Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSTATCOM Stabilizer based on Fuzzy Logic Control for Damping Power OscillationPrechanon KumkratugProblem statement: In power systems, there exists a continuous challenge to improve dynamic performance of power system. Approach: Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is a power electronic based device that has the capability of controlling the power flow through a line. This study applies the Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) to control the power flow during dynamic period. To verify the effect … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 10 · 8 Sep 2011 · 7,440 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractApplication of Neuro-Fuzzy Techniques for Solar RadiationW. A. Rahoma, U. Ali Rahoma, A. H. HassanProblem statement: The prediction is very useful in solar energy applications because it permits to estimate solar data for locations where measurements are not available. The developed artificial intelligence models predict the solar radiation time series more effectively compared to the conventional procedures based on the clearness index. Approach: The forecasting ability of some models could be further enhanced with … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 10 · 11 Aug 2011 · 7,077 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHandling Web and Database Requests Using Fuzzy Rules for Anomaly Intrusion DetectionSelvamani Kadirvelu, Kannan ArputharajProblem statement: It is necessary to propose suitable detection and prevention mechanisms to provide security for the information contents used by the web application. Many prevention mechanisms which are currently available are not able to classify anomalous, random and normal request. This leads to the problem of false positives which is classifying a normal request as anomalous and denying access … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 25 Feb 2011 · 7,305 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImplementation and Evaluation of Evolutionary Connectionist Approaches to Automated Text SummarizationUday Kulkarni, Rajesh Shardanand PrasadProblem statement: Text summarization takes care of choosing the most significant portions of text and generates coherent summaries that express the main intent of the given document. This study aims to compare the performances of the three text summarization systems developed by the authors with some of the existing Summarization systems available. These three approaches to text summarization are based … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 11 · 23 Oct 2010 · 8,489 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUsing an Adaptative Fuzzy-Logic System to Optimize the Performances and the Reduction of Chattering Phenomenon in the Control of Induction MotorM. M. Krishan, L. Barazane, A. KhwaldehProblem statement: Neural networks and fuzzy inference systems are becoming well-recognized tools of designing an identifier/controller capable of perceiving the operating environment and imitating a human operator with high performance. Also, by combining these two features, more versatile and robust models, called “neuro-fuzzy” architectures have been developed. The mo Approach: Motivation behind the use of neuro-fuzzy approaches was based on … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,523 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLot-Sizing Decisions under Trade Credit Depending on the Ordering Quantity in Fuzzy Annual DemandChui-Yu Chiu, Zhi-Ping Lin, Yi LinProblem statement: In reality, there are of various products such as liquids, volatile, medicines and materials, in which the rate of deterioration is very large. However, little attention has been mentioned what the effects of deterioration occur in most inventory systems. Also, the loss of the deterioration should not be neglected as an important issue. Approach: In this study, we … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 6,763 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFuzzy Swarm Based Text SummarizationMohammed Salem Binwahlan, Naomie Salim, Ladda SuanmaliProblem statement: The aim of automatic text summarization systems is to select the most relevant information from an abundance of text sources. A daily rapid growth of data on the internet makes the achieve events of such aim a big challenge. Approach: In this study, we incorporated fuzzy logic with swarm intelligence; so that risks, uncertainty, ambiguity and imprecise values … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 30 May 2009 · 7,412 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFuzzy Reliability and Fuzzy Availability of the Serial Process in Butter-Oil Processing PlantKuldeep Kumar, Jai Singh, Pawan KumarProblem statement: The purpose of this study was to compute fuzzy reliability and fuzzy availability of the serial process in butter-oil processing plant for various choices of failure and repair rates of sub-system. This plant consists of eight sub-systems out of which two are supported by stand-by units with perfect switch over devices and considered that these two sub-systems never … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2009 · 8,014 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFuzzy Based Digital Automatic Voltage Regulator of a Synchronous Generator with Unbalanced LoadsA. Darabi, S.A. Soleamani, A. HassanniaVoltage stability and power quality of the electrical systems depend on proper operation of the Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) of generators. Nowadays, design technology of the AVRs is being broadly improved. According to wide range operating conditions of the generators and loads, the fuzzy AVRs are going to be the modern type of regulators, particularly, for the genset alternators operating … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2008 · 7,602 accessesView PDFCite
