Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Modified Partially Mapped MultiCrossover Genetic Algorithm for Two-Dimensional Bin Packing ProblemM. Sarabian, L.S. LeeProblem statement: Non-oriented case of Two-Dimensional Rectangular Bin Packing Problem (2DRBPP) was studied in this study. The objective of this problem was to pack a given set of small rectangles, which may be rotated by 90°, without overlaps into a minimum numbers of identical large rectangles. Our aim was to improve the performance of the MultiCrossover Genetic Algorithm (MXGA) proposed … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2010 · 8,591 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFinite Element Analysis of the Crack Propagation for Solid MaterialsMiloud Souiyah, A. Muchtar, Abdulnaser Alshoaibi, A. K. AriffinProblem statement: The use of fracture mechanics techniques in the assessment of performance and reliability of structure is on increase and the prediction of crack propagation in structure play important part. The finite element method is widely used for the evaluation of SIF for various types of crack configurations. Source code program of two-dimensional finite element model had been developed, … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2009 · 7,848 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Method for Constructing the Coefficients of Pressure Correction Equation for Colocated Unstructured GridsR. Rafee, H. RahimzadehOne of the important equations in numerical solution of Navier Stokes equations is the pressure correction equation. In this article, a new method for constructing the coefficients of this equation for colocated unstructured meshes is proposed. This method is based on momentum interpolation. The method is compared with the approach adopted in literature. The complete discretization of the Navier Stokes … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2009 · 7,142 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThree Dimensional Hydrodynamic Model With Multiquadtree MeshesGregorio Posada Vanegas, Rodolfo Silva Casarín, Sébastien de BryeThis study presents a three dimensional model for the transport of conservative contaminants, which can be used for bodies of water which are affected by winds and/or tides. The model solves the equation of mass transport, based on results obtained using a hydrodynamic model for shallow waters that works in a finite volume scheme and a type of hierarchical grid, … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 30 Jun 2008 · 6,584 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSugarcane Phenological Date Estimation Using Broad-Band Digital CamerasMobasheri, M. Chahardoli, J. Jokar, M. FarajzadehIn the agricultural industry, precision farming is the most important task that attracts lots of attentions. The health of the plant depends mostly on the amount of water in its access that can be estimated through vegetation indices. These indices can be extracted from satellite images through Image processing algorithms. The objective of this research was to provide an equation … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2008 · 7,962 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOrientation Detection of Sensed Objects using a Four Sensor Tactile System with Applications in Bio-RoboticsAshkan Mirbagheri, Javad Dargahi, Siamak Najarian, Farhad Tabatabai GhomsheA novel approach is presented that can be used in determining the sensitivity of a four sensor tactile sensor to the orientation of the contacted objects. Computer simulations were conducted by using a rectangular probe of 14 mm by 7 mm size and applying three magnitudes of forces, i.e., 0.5, 1, and 2 N. A bi-variate function was obtained, showing … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2007 · 7,204 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEffect of Feed Additives on the Development of Proteolytic Enzymes of the Tropical Sport Fish Malaysian Mahseer (Tor tambroides-Bleeker) FryK.C.A. Jalal, M. A. Ambak, M.A.B. Abol et al.Tor tambroides fry with a mean of 8.0±0.72 mm standard length (SL) and weighing (W) 0.06±0.01g were stocked at the rate of fifty (50) individuals in each of the fifteen 150l rectangular fibre glass tanks for a period of 5 weeks. The development of proteolytic enzymes (Trypsin and Chymotrypsin) was studied during these feeding treatments. 45% protein diet without additives … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 1, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2005 · 7,002 accessesView PDFCite
