Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLOW FOOTPRINT HIGH INTELLIGIBILITY MALAY SPEECH SYNTHESIZER BASED ON STATISTICAL DATALau Chee Yong, Tan Tian SweeSpeech synthesis plays a pivotal role nowadays. It can be found in various daily applications such as in mobile phones, navigation systems, languages learning software and so on. In this study, a Malay language speech synthesizer was designed using hidden Markov model to improve the performance of current Malay speech synthesizer and also extend Malay speech technology. Statistical parametric method … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 19 Nov 2013 · 6,722 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImage Compression Algorithms Using Intensity Based Adaptive Quantization CodingSaad Al-Azawi, Said Boussakta, Alex YakovlevProblem statement: Low complexity image compression algorithms are necessary for modern portable devices such as mobile phones, wireless sensor networks and high constraint power consumption devices. In such applications low bit rate along with an acceptable image quality are an essential requirements. Approach: This study proposes low and moderate complexity algorithms for colour image compression. Two algorithms will be presented; … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 18 Jan 2012 · 8,496 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractArabic Short Text CompressionIman Omer, Khalaf KhatatnehProblem statement: Text compression permits representing a document by using less space. This is useful not only to save disk space, but more importantly, to save disk transfer and network transmission time. With the continues increase in the number of Arabic short text messages sent by mobile phones, the use of a suitable compression scheme would allow users to use … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,542 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImage Compression and Reconstruction using Cubic Spline Interpolation TechniqueR. Muthaiah, K. NeelaKantan, Vidur Sharma, Amit AroraA new dimension of image compression using random pixels of irregular sampling and image reconstruction using cubic-spline interpolation techniques proposed in this paper. It also covers the wide field of multimedia communication concerned with multimedia messaging (MMS) and image transfer through mobile phones and tried to find a mechanism to transfer images with minimum bandwidth requirement. This method would provide … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,197 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Approach for Testing Stability of 1-D Recursive Digital Filters Based on Lagrange MultipliersK. R. Santhi, N. Gangatharan, M. PonnavaikkoDigital filters have found their way into many products from every day consumer items such as mobile phones to advanced maritime and military communications and avionics systems. Design of digital filters faces two fundamental problems, their stability and synthesis. Recursive filters have more stability problems than nonrecursive filters. Stability of a filter can be determined by the location of the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 31 May 2008 · 6,484 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Video Surveillance System Based on Multimedia Messaging ServiceS. Chandramathi, N. Chandra Sekhar, M. G. AdarshToday’s communication world ensures that anybody can communicate to anyone anywhere anytime across the globe. The new mobile communication systems include not only voice but also data and video messages. Natural way to communicate is to send and receive messages. Multimedia messaging are essential drivers for continuous growth in new services beyond voice. In this study, multimedia messaging services available … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2005 · 6,914 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Static Analysis of Android Source Code for Lifecycle Development Usage PatternsNoura Hoshieah, Samer Zein, Norsaremah Salleh, John GrundyBuilding robust Android apps is a non-trivial task that requires skilled developers to understand various Android platform peculiarities. However, among the Android developers community, a large fractions are considered to be novice and inexperienced developers. One of the main peculiarities in the Android app development is the activity lifecycle model. A developer needs to have deep understanding of the different … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 1 · 10 Jan 2019 · 8,661 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordADAPTIVE I/O SWITCHING FOR SEAMLESS CONVERGENCE OF SMART PHONES AND EXTERNAL I/O DEVICESOh-Chul Kwon, Jusung Kim, Chang-Gun LeeTo be small and easy to carry, mobile devices cannot be equipped with large and highly capable input/output devices. In order to overcome these limitations, this study proposes adaptive I/O switching technique as a general solution for exploiting full features of various external input/output devices in lieu of tiny input/output devices in a smartphone. Unlike existing physical-layer connection based solutions … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 7 · 21 Feb 2014 · 6,649 accessesView PDFCite
