Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHuman Face Detection and Recognition using Web-CamPetcharat Pattanasethanon, Charuay SavithiProblem statement: The illuminance insensitivity that reflects the angle of human facial aspects occurs once the distance between the object and the camera is too different such as animated images. This has been a problem for facial recognition system for decades. Approach: For this reason, our study represents a novel technique for facial recognition through the implementation of Successes Mean … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 9 · 17 Aug 2012 · 8,275 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleOptimization of Non-Technical Electricity Loss Detection Using Artificial Neural Networks: Case of Cameroon Distribution NetworkLekini Nkodo Claude Bernard, Bell Serge Samuel, Nyemb Nsoga Valjacques et al.Non-Technical Losses (NTL) represent a critical challenge for power utilities, particularly in developing countries. This paper proposes an unsupervised deep learning approach based on an autoencoder to detect abnormal electricity consumption patterns in the Cameroonian distribution network. The model learns normal customer behavior using historical consumption data and identifies anomalies through reconstruction error analysis. Statistical thresholds are applied to classify … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 19, Issue 1 · 23 Jul 2026 · 1,233 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Faulty Solar Panel Detecting and Mapping Method Using aDrone with RGB and Thermal Cameras in Solar Power PlantSoobin Jeon, Dongmahn SeoA solar panel generates electricity power using the sun's rays. It isusually located on a rooftop or open field without shadow. This solar panelis hard to be tested by nonprofessionals. Therefore, we propose a detectingsystem for a faulty solar panel using a drone with an RGB camera and athermal camera. The drone is applied for collecting aerial videos. The RGBcamera … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 5 · 21 May 2025 · 4,599 accessesView PDFCite

Even though the pandemic reached the African continent relatively late in 2020, it had already been terrorizing other parts of the world. In wake of the COVID-19, trade restrictions were imposed and affected the traders across the continent, but the impacts were enormous … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 19, Issue 1 · 19 Jan 2024 · 6,028 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleFace Verification for Person Re-Identification from Surveillance Camera and Drone-based VideosVimala Mathew, K. Ramesh, Tom Toby, Anu Mary ChackoPerson re-identification in surveillance camera videos is attracting widespread interest due to its increasing number of applications. It is being applied in the field of security, healthcare, product manufacturing, product sales and more. Though there are a variety of methods to do person re-identification, face verification-based methods are very much effective. In this study, a deep learning framework to perform … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 7 · 28 Jul 2021 · 7,322 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Vision System Based on Time-of-Flight and RGB Cameras Applied to Robotic Tree Peony Fruit HarvestingJiaming Liu, Dong Zhao, Tianxing Li, Jian ZhaoTree peony is a deciduous shrub endemic to China and the Peony Seed Oil (PSO) is an important plant oil resource. However, at present, fruits harvesting of peony are mainly completed by manual work with low efficiency. In response to the need for a mechanized operation, a multi-sources vision system based on Time-Of-Flight (TOF) and RGB cameras was set up … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 16, Issue 3 · 19 Aug 2020 · 6,332 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEnvironmental Pollution by Heavy Metals in the Gold Mining Region of East CameroonDallou Guy Blanchard, Ngoa Engola Louis, Abdourahimi et al.The main objective of this study is to assess the level of heavy metals pollution in soil samples collected around gold mines located in Betaré Oya (BO) and Batouri (BA) in Eastern Cameroon. Elemental analysis of soil samples was carried out using Quant´X EDXRF spectrometer. Its sensitivity and accuracy were increased by using the Fundamental Parameter approach for quantification of … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 14, Issue 5 · 7 Nov 2018 · 9,780 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDetection and Solutions for Non-Technical Losses in Cameroon Electricity NetworkLekini Nkodo Claude Bernard, Ndzana Benoît, Oumarou Hamandjoda, Fippo Fitime LouisThe purpose of this study was to provide a tool to detect NTLs and subsequently, discuss the establishment of a prepaid system in Cameroon. The conception of a prepayment system for electric power or other utility commodity distribution using Wi-Fi and GSM to store and transfer value (money or KWh, meters reading indexes) from the client module to cut-off module … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 25 Jan 2018 · 7,376 accessesView PDFCite
