Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEmpirical Analysis of Virtual Carrier Sense Flooding Attacks Over Wireless Local Area NetworkMina Malekzadeh, Abdul Azim Abdul Ghani, Jalil Desa, Shamala SubramaniamProblem statement: Wireless Local Areas (WLANs) are subject to different types of vulnerabilities. Denial of Service (DoS) attack is the most current challenging issue on the WLANs. The objectives of the study were to (i) Provide an empirical analysis to conduct a series of wireless virtual carrier sense DoS attacks using wireless control frames vulnerabilities, (ii) Design a testbed to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,650 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Indoor Positioning System (IPS) using Grid ModelWutjanun Muttitanon, Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Marc SourisTo date many positioning systems are available to determine or track a user's location; three main categories include Global Positioning System (GPS), wide area location system and indoor positioning system. GPS has its limitation (poor signals) in indoor or urban uses, while wide-area location systems are cellular networks dependent. For indoor positioning system many approaches like infrared sensing, radio frequency, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2007 · 7,175 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Type of Network Security Protocol Using Hybrid Encryption in Virtual Private NetworkingE. Ramaraj, S. KarthikeyanToday wireless communications is acting as a major role in networks. Through year-end 2006, the employee's ability to install unmanaged access points will result is more than 50% of enterprises exposing sensitive information through the wireless virtual private networks (VPN). It enables you to send the data between two computers across a shared or public network in a manner that … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2006 · 6,788 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMobile Agents in Wireless LAN and Cellular Data NetworksR. B. Patel, V. K. Katiyar, Vishal GargAdvancing technology in wireless communication offers users anytime, anywhere access to information and network resources without restricting them to the fixed network infrastructure. Mobile computing represents a shift in the distributed systems paradigm. The potential of decoupled and disconnected operation, location-dependent computation and communication and powerful portable computing devices gives rise to opportunities for new patterns of distributed computation that … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 7,083 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImplementation of a Novel Concatenated FEC by RS and Irregular Turbo Codes on OFDM SystemsA. Shanmugam, A. R. Abdul Rajak, S. Vishwanath, R. UpendraCode Division Multiple Access (CDMA) performs well in a multi-cellular environment where a single frequency is used in all cells. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) has severe problems associated with multipath and Channel news. One possible problem is that the receiver may require a very large dynamic range in order to handle the large signal strength variation among users. Due … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 May 2005 · 7,039 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUltra Wide Band (UWB) Ad-hoc Networks: Review and TrendsRashid Saeed, Sabira Khatun, Borhanuddin M. Ali, Mohd K. AbduallahShort-range wireless systems have recently gained a lot of attention to provide seamless, multimedia communications around a user-centric concept in so called Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN). Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology presents itself as a good candidate for the Physical Layer (PHY) of WPAN, both for high and low data rate applications. Many ongoing developments of Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) system … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2005 · 7,060 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDynamic Reconfiguration of IP Domain Middleware Stacks to Support Multicast Multimedia Distribution in a Heterogeneous EnvironmentKevin Curran, Gerard ParrSeamless connectivity to multiple wireless networks independently of a fixed point is becoming increasingly important for mobile devices however wireless networks differ in bandwidth, size and access costs each requiring protocol functions to enable devices to communicate efficiently. In addition, due to the divergence of users and applications, traditional stacks are frequently enriched with additional functionality such as transport protocol … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2005 · 6,781 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Fast-and-Fair Collision Resolution Protocol Tailored for Ad Hoc Wireless NetworksMarcos F. Caetano, Lucas M. Guimaraes, Jacir L. BordimWireless technologies have permeated a significant number of devices over the years. On the other hand, Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols strive to deal with an increasing number of contending nodes on crowded frequency bands. This work presents an efficient medium access control resolution protocol. The proposed protocol, termed Collision Resolution Protocol (CRP), uses pulse/tone signaling that works in both … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 12, Issue 8 · 1 Nov 2016 · 7,140 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordMobility and Handover Technique in Heterogeneous Wireless NetworksRadhwan Abdullah, Zuriati Zukarnain, Farzaneh Masoumiyan, Azizol AbdullahThe management techniques for Mobile IPv6 between different wireless technologies are very important to complete the handover process with the least possible delay. In the fast handover, when a mobile node moves to another network, it needs to do handover operations. These operations have a severe impact on the handover latency. This paper proposes an Enhanced Advanced Duplicate Address Detection … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2015 · 6,752 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordCLUSTER BASED CACHE CONSISTENCY USING AGENT TECHNIQUE IN MOBILE ENVIRONMENTShanmugarathinam Ganesarathinam, Vivekanandan KanniappanCaching is an essential mechanism in mobile environment. Mobile node makes access dynamic changing data object to their server and to get the interested data to keep their own as local copies in the cache. If the server database is updated, the data cached in mobile client is invalidated and it becomes inconsistent between client and server.
