Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordThe Use of Remote Sensing Techniques in Detecting and Predicting Forest Vegetation Change Using MODIS Satellite Data, Golestan, IranAkram Karimi, Sara Abdollahi, Hamid Reza Kabiri Balajadeh et al.It is so important to be aware of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of changes for the environment, land use planning and sustainable development. Detecting the changes in the condition of an issue is done by time difference observations. Change detection refers to the process of detecting time changes of an object through different time observations. The detection of changes by … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 30 Mar 2018 · 8,287 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordMonitoring Land Use and Land Cover Effects on Water Quality in Cheung Ek Lake using ASTER ImagesNara Im, Kensuke Kawamura, Endan Suwandana, Yuji SakunoCheung Ek Lake is the biggest natural treatment plant for nearly 80% of wastewater and storm-water from Phnom Penh city. Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) changes of the lake and its catchment area could deteriorate capacity of the lake in purifying wastewater and affect to its water quality. The study aims to assess the relationship between LULC changes and … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 3 Apr 2015 · 8,013 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordWeb-Enabled Generalized Architectural Model for Online Power System AnalysisBoopathi C. Sengodan, Subhransu Sekhar Dash, Subramani Chinnamuthu et al.In this study, an effective Web-enabled generalized architectural model is proposed. The proposed model makes the power system analysis to be completely secured, distributed, platform-independent and language-independent. Although significant progress has been made for on-line power system analysis in distributed environment, still efficient distributed environment has not yet been exploited. The Web-enabled architectural models are emerging as basic methodologies to … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 9 · 24 Aug 2013 · 6,717 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordGeo-Spatial Technologies for Carbon Sequestration Monitoring and ManagementV. Jeyanny, S. K. Balasundram, M. H.A. HusniProblem statement: Globally, the quantification of Carbon Sequestration (CS) potential of various ecosystems was a challenge. There was an urgent need for technologies that can quantify CS potential cost-efficiently in a repeated and organized manner. Approach: Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) had great potential in current estimation, future prediction and management of carbon sequestration potential in terrestrial … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 3 Nov 2011 · 8,633 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordLand Cover Change Detection Using Texture AnalysisXiaofeng Wu, Fen Yang, Roly LishmanProblem statement: It is an important task to detect land cover changes from remotely sensed data for environmental monitoring. Although there are some applications of visual textures to the land use, they are limited to a few land cover categories with the application of one texture measure. Since land cover types are complex and often the integration of various objects, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 8,198 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordApplication of a Database in the Monitoring of Workstations in a Local Area NetworkEyo O. Ukem, Buba G. BajogaProblem statement: Computer hardware fault management and repairs can be a big challenge, especially if the number of staff available for the job is small. The task becomes more complicated if remote sites are managed and an engineer or technician has to be dispatched. Approach: Availability of relevant information when needed could ease the burden of maintenance by removing uncertainties. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2009 · 6,626 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordLandscape Change and Sandy Desertification Monitoring and AssessmentEltahir Mohd Elhadi, Nagi Zomrawi, Hu GuangdaoProblem statement: The objective of this study is to develop techniques for assessing and analyzing sand desertification in the northern part of Shaanxi Province, China. Approach: In order to reveal the process of land degradation, especially the latest situation of sandy desertification, a method integrating remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS) and field survey was employed to build a sandy … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 31 Oct 2009 · 7,124 accessesView PDFCite
