Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Image Dithering Via Tchebichef Moment TransformNur Azman Abu, Ferda Ernawan, Nanna SuryanaMany image display applications and printing devices allow only limited number of colours. They have limited computational power and storage to produce high quality outputs on high bit-depth colour image. A dithering technique is called for here in order to improve the perceptual visual quality of the limited bit-depth images. A dithered image is represented by a natural colour in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 11 Jun 2013 · 7,350 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Fuzzy Logic Based Power Control for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access Wireless NetworksN. Mohan, T. RavichandranProblem statement: Resource management is one of the most important engineering issues in 3G systems where multiple traffic classes are supported each being characterized by its required Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. Call Admission Control (CAC) is one of the resource management functions, which regulates network access to ensure QoS provisioning. Efficient CAC is necessary for the QoS provisioning in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 4 Aug 2012 · 6,760 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImplementation of a Novel Control Strategy Using Fuzzy Logic Controller to Shunt Active Filter for Line Harmonic ReductionN. Senthilnathan, T. ManigandanProblem statement: Now days, power quality has been given attention due to the intensive use of power electronic equipments in all types of industries such as steel, paper, textile industries and so on. These power electronic devices induce harmonic distortion into the supply lines which gives rise to many undesirable effects. Approach: This study presents a new method for harmonic … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 29 Feb 2012 · 7,092 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDigital Simulation, Design, Comparitive Analysis of Intelligent Controllers in Adjustable Speed Drives for PQ EnhancementA. Srikrishnan, B. Justus RabiProblem statement: This study deals with the analysis, design and comparison between fuzzy and genetic based adjustable speed drives with respect to the parameters which determines the quality of power. Approach: ASD system using fuzzy controllers provide ride-through capability during voltage sags, reduces harmonics, improves power factor and is highly reliable, whereas by using genetic algorithm optimized ASD systems, the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 21 Nov 2011 · 7,019 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractVoltage Swells Improvement in Low Voltage Network Using Dynamic Voltage RestorerR. Omar, N.A. Rahim, A. AhmadProblem statement: Voltage disturbances are the most common power quality problem due to the increased use of a large numbers of sophisticated electronic equipment in industrial distribution system. The voltage disturbances such as voltage sags, swells, harmonics, unbalance and flickers. High quality in the power supply is needed, since failures due to such disturbances usually have a high impact on … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2011 · 7,379 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSome Test Statistics for Testing the Binomial Parameter: Empirical Power ComparisonFlorence George, B.M. Golam KibriaProblem statement: The Binomial distribution is one of the most useful probability distributions in the filed of quality control, physical and medical sceinces. Many questions of interest to the health worker related to make inference about the unknown population proportion, parameter of binomial distribution. This study considers the problem of hypotheses testing of the parameter of a binomial distribution. Approach: … …Current Research in Biostatistics, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 31 Dec 2010 · 7,873 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUnequally Error Protected Wireless Data Transmission Using Channel State Information and Adaptive EncodersYaseen H. Tahir, Chee Kyun Ng, N. K. Noordin et al.Problem statement: Higher data transmission rate with Quality of Services (QoS) guarantee is an important objective for wireless broadband communication systems. Unlike other communication system, real-time transmission requires high data rate and good error performance to ensure good quality of service. This study describes the design problem of real-time wireless data transmission which provides higher achievable data rate with Unequal … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 7,255 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Policy-Based Admission Control Scheme for Voice over IP NetworksSami Alwakeel, Agung PrasetijoProblem statement: In Voice Over IP (VOIP) network, when more calls are admitted to the network, more voice packet traffic is created. Since bandwidth is always limited, this may result network congestion and/or may affect voice quality. Thus, we needed a mechanism for improving the Quality of Service (QoS) by controlling VOIP calls admission. Approach: Given a specified bandwidth and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2009 · 6,614 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOptimal Power Control with Overhearing Avoidance for Wireless Sensor NetworksM. Ramakrishnan, P. Vanaja RanjanProblem statement: Extending lifetime of the battery operated wireless sensor nodes through the design of low power medium access control protocols dealt in this study. Approach: In this study energy efficient Optimal Power Control MAC with Overhearing Avoidance (OPC-OA) was proposed. The transmission power of every node was dynamically changed for the optimal connectivity between nodes.
