Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMAPREDUCE CHALLENGES ON PERVASIVE GRIDSL. A. Steffenel, O. Flauzac, A. S. Charao et al.This study presents the advances on designing and implementing scalable techniques to support the development and execution of MapReduce application in pervasive distributed computing infrastructures, in the context of the PER-MARE project. A pervasive framework for MapReduce applications is very useful in practice, especially in those scientific, enterprises and educational centers which have many unused or underused computing resources, which … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 11 · 24 Jul 2014 · 9,834 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCLUSTER BASED CACHE CONSISTENCY USING AGENT TECHNIQUE IN MOBILE ENVIRONMENTShanmugarathinam Ganesarathinam, Vivekanandan KanniappanCaching is an essential mechanism in mobile environment. Mobile node makes access dynamic changing data object to their server and to get the interested data to keep their own as local copies in the cache. If the server database is updated, the data cached in mobile client is invalidated and it becomes inconsistent between client and server. In this study … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 4 · 19 Dec 2013 · 6,487 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIntegrated Electricity Planning Comprise Renewable Energy and Feed-In TariffHo Wai Shin, Haslenda HashimProblem statement: Mitigation of global warming and energy crisis has called upon the need of an efficient tool for electricity planning. This study thus presents an electricity planning tool that incorporates RE with Feed in-Tariff (FiT) for various sources of Renewable Energy (RE) to minimize grid-connected electricity generation cost as well as to satisfy nominal electricity demand and CO2 emission … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 28 Feb 2012 · 8,695 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLead Free Solder Joint Thermal Condition in Semiconductor PackagingM. Najib Harif, Allina Nadzri, Kamaruzaman JusoffProblem statement: Solder joints are responsible for both electrical and mechanical connections. Solder does not have adequate ductility to ensure the repeated relative displacements due to the mismatch between expansion coefficients of the chip carrier and the circuit board. Solder material plays a crucial role to provide the necessary electrical and mechanical interconnections in an electronic assembly. Finding a technique … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2010 · 7,160 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Multiderivative Collocation Method for 5th Order Ordinary Differential EquationsS. J. Kayode, D. O. AwoyemiProblem statement: The conventional methods of solving higher order differential equations have been by reducing them to systems of first order equations. This approach is cumbersome and increases computational time. Approach: To address this problem, a numerical algorithm for direct solution of 5th order initial value problems in ordinary differential equations (odes), using power series as basis function, is proposed … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2010 · 8,928 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomated Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda, J.E. Smith) Pheromone Trap Based on Machine LearningSimon H. Chiwamba, Jackson Phiri, Philip O.Y. Nkunika et al.Maize is the main food crop that meets the nutritional needs of both humans and livestock in the sub-Saharan African region. Maize crop has in the recent past been threatened by the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda, J.E Smith) which has caused considerable maize yield losses in the region. Controlling this pest requires knowledge on the time, location and extent of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 12 · 19 Dec 2019 · 8,364 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFitted Reproducing Kernel Method for Solving a Class of Third-Order Periodic Boundary Value ProblemsAsad Freihat, Radwan Abu-Gdairi, Hammad Khalil et al.In this article, the reproducing kernel Hilbert space W24 [0, 1] is employed for solving a class of third-order periodic boundary value problem by using fitted reproducing kernel algorithm. The reproducing kernel function is built to get fast accurately and efficiently series solutions with easily computable coefficients throughout evolution the algorithm under constraint periodic conditions within required grid points. The … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 13, Issue 5 · 11 May 2016 · 7,647 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIntegration of Genetic Algorithm with Tabu Search for Job Shop Scheduling with Unordered Subsequence Exchange CrossoverR. Thamilselvan, P. BalasubramanieProblem statement: The problem of scheduling n jobs on m machines with each job having specific machine route has been researched over the decade. The Job Shop Scheduling (JSS) is one of the hardest combinatorial optimization problems. Each resource can process at most one job at a time. Approach: This study proposes a new approach to solve a Job Shop … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 24 Feb 2012 · 6,650 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBirds as a Tool for Island Habitat Conservation and ManagementPedro Rodrigues, Regina Tristao da CunhaProblem statement: The Azores is a archipelago of nine volcanic islands, situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic islands are known hotspots of biodiversity and the Azores, although relatively young (0.3-13 MA), conform to this general pattern. The local avifauna amount to 37 birding species, with two endemic species and 11 endemic subspecies. With an estimated population … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 20 Jan 2012 · 8,157 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFuzzy Based Energy Management of a Domestic Photovoltaic PanelMaher Chaabene, Mohsen Ben Ammar, Ahmed ElhajjajiThis study introduces a new switching mean giving a real time optimum connection mode of domestic apparatus on either the electrical grid or a photovoltaic panel (PVP) output. A fuzzy algorithm makes the decision which ensures the optimal energy management basing on the PVP generation and apparatus states with respect to energy save criteria.
