Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDEVELOPMENT OF A FUZZY-SIMULATION MODEL OF SCHEDULING ROBOTIC FLEXIBLE ASSEMBLY CELLSKhalid Abd, Kazem Abhary, Romeo MarianDue to the complexity of scheduling flexible manufacturing systems, the generation of production schedules requires an intelligent technique. Many artificial intelligence techniques such as fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms and neural networks have been successfully applied to the scheduling of advanced manufacturing systems. One such system is Robotic Flexible Assembly Cells (RFACs). Few studies have addressed the problem of scheduling RFACs. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 6,791 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA SURVEY: PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION-BASED ALGORITHMS FOR GRID COMPUTING SCHEDULING SYSTEMSFaruku Umar Ambursa, Rohaya LatipBio-inspired heuristics have been promising in solving complex scheduling optimization problems. Several researches have been conducted to tackle the problems of task scheduling for the heterogeneous and dynamic grid systems using different bio-inspired mechanisms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). PSO has been proven to have a relatively more promissing performance in dealing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 6,656 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleADAPTIVE RESOURCE CONTROL MECHANISM THROUGH REPUTATION-BASED SCHEDULING IN HETEROGENEOUS DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMSMasnida Hussin, Rohaya LatipThe service-oriented distributed systems such as Grids and Clouds are unified computing platform that connect and share heterogeneous resources including computation resource, storage resource, information resource and knowledge resource. While these systems provide a vast amount of computing power their reliability are often hard to be guaranteed. It is due to the increased complexity of processing (e.g., overhead, latency) that … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 7,047 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleCOMPARISON USING PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION AND GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR TIMETABLE SCHEDULINGDennise AdriantoLecturer timetable scheduling is an important part in the resource allocation planning. Due to the large amount of transactions and various related constraints have to be taken into account in timetable scheduling process, resource manager team shall need a lot of time to the solve the problem. This research is aimed to discuss the application of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 20 Nov 2013 · 7,027 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleCOMPARISON FOR WIMAX SCHEDULING ALGORITHMS AND PROPOSAL QUALITY OF SERVICE IMPROVEMENT IN WIMAX NETWORKSR. Nandhini, N. DevarajanThe objective of the broadband wireless technologies is to ensure the end to end Quality of Service (QoS) for service classes. Wimax is a revolution in wireless networks which could support real time multimedia services. In order to provide QoS support and efficient usage of system resources an intelligent scheduling algorithm is needed. The design of detailed scheduling algorithm is … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 19 Nov 2013 · 7,394 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDYNAMIC PLANNING BASED SCHEDULING APPROACH FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKSM. Senthil Kumaran, R. RangarajanEnergy efficiency is an important issue in wireless sensor networks. A sensor node has a microprocessor and a small amount of memory for signal processing and task scheduling. Dynamic Planning is a method is used in this approach it combines the flexibility of dynamic scheduling with the predictability offered by schedulabilty check. Whenever a node wants to transmit data packet … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 5 Sep 2013 · 6,819 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleFUZZY ROUND ROBIN CPU SCHEDULING ALGORITHMBashir AlamOne problem in Round Robin CPU Scheduling is that if the time required for the running process is slightly more than time quantum even by a fraction value, then process gets preempted and context switch occurs. This causes more waiting time for that process and more overheads due to unnecessary context switch. Another problem with RR scheduling is the value … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 9 Jul 2013 · 7,909 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleNEW BURST ASSEMBLY AND SCHEDULING TECHNIQUE FOR OPTICAL BURST SWITCHING NETWORKSV. Kavitha, V. PalanisamyThe Optical Burst Switching is a new switching technology that efficiently utilizes the bandwidth in the optical layer. The key areas to be concentrated in Optical Burst Switching (OBS) networks are the burst assembly and burst scheduling i.e., assignment of wavelengths to the incoming bursts. This study presents a New Burst Assembly and Scheduling (NBAS) technique in a simultaneous multipath … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 6 Jul 2013 · 6,944 accessesView PDFCite
