Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesign of Robust UPFC Controller Using H∞ Control Theory in Electric Power SystemSeyed Abbas Taher, Shahabeddin Akbari, Ali Abdolalipour, Reza HemattiAn industrial plant, such a power system, always contains parametric uncertainties. In the design of a controller the uncertainties have to be considered. Otherwise, if the real plant differs from the assumed plant model, a controller, designed based on classical controller design approaches, may not ensure the stability of the overall system. In this paper design of robust control for … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2008 · 7,092 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleThe Advantages of PID Fuzzy Controllers Over The Conventional TypesAbdullah I. Al-Odienat, Ayman A. Al-LawamaFuzzy logic controllers (FLC's) have the following advantages over the conventional controllers: they are cheaper to develop, they cover a wider range of operating conditions, and they are more readily customizable in natural language terms. A self-organizing fuzzy controller can automatically refine an initial approximate set of fuzzy rules. Application of PI-type fuzzy controller increases the quality factor. In this … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2008 · 18,041 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleComparison of Different Control Strategies in GA-Based Optimized UPFC Controller in Electric Power SystemsSeyed Abbas Taher, Reza Hematti, Majid NematiThis study presents a study of the application of a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) to control power transmission, generator terminals voltage and better damping of Low Frequency Oscillation (LFO) in Single-Machine Infinite-Bus (SMIB) power system. The UPFC integrates properties of both shunt and series compensations and can effectively alter power system parameters in a way that increases power transfer … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2008 · 7,606 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesigning of PID Controller for Discrete Time Linear System Using Balanced Approach Reduced Order ModelC.S. Ravichandran, S. Subha Rani, T. ManikandanModeling physical systems usually results in complex high-order dynamic models. It is often desirable to approximate these models by simpler models with reduced order. This study deals with the design of discrete time linear system using a balanced approach reduced order model. The reduced order model retains the desired state variable which contains a significant contribution. A PID controller is … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2007 · 7,132 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleFuzzy Logic Controller Based Three-phase Shunt Active Filter for Line Harmonics ReductionC. Sharmeela, M. R. Mohan, G. Uma, J. BaskaranHarmonic distortion is a form of electrical noise. It is a superposition of signals, which are of multiples of fundamental frequency. Proliferation of large power electronic systems results in increased harmonic distortion. Harmonic distortion results in reduction of power quality and system stability. This paper presents fuzzy control applicable for active power filter for three-phase systems, which are comprised of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2007 · 7,111 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDamping of Generator Oscillations Using an Adaptive UPFC-based ControllerD. Nazarpour, S. H. Hosseini, G. B. GharehpetianIn this study a UPFC-based non-linear adaptive controller is proposed and designed to damp generator oscillations. The adaptive controller design is based on determination of control signal using a new linear quadratic pole placement control law and identification of power system parameters with recursive least squares method with adaptive directional forgetting factor. A new model of UPFC has been introduced … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2006 · 6,766 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDevelopment of a "Programmable Logic Controller Circuitry" For Optimal Power Distribution in a Manufacturing IndustriesK. SelvarajProblem statement: In industries the powder demand/consumption is fixed by the power supply agency. However, at times, the demand/Consumption may exceed the fixed level and will result in, the industry paying heavy penalties to the supply agency. In most of the large and medium scale industries, controlling of power consumption is done by monitoring the powder demand indicator unit activated … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 7,279 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAutoencoder-Based Intrusion Detection for ARP Poisoning in SDN ControllersKago Seemela, Banyatsang Mphago, Thabo Semong, Phephisa MethulaAddress Resolution Protocol (ARP) poisoning is still a critical control plane attack in Software Defined Networks (SDNs), and spoofing of ARP mappings can trick SDNs controller and accomplish man in the middle, eavesdropping and denial of service attacks. Current SDN intrusion detection systems of ARP attacks rely on supervised learning and labelled attack data which is rather expensive and not … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 7 · 21 Jul 2026 · 875 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleVehicle-Fixed-Frame Adaptive Controller and Intrinsic Nonlinear PID Controller for Attitude Stabilization of a Complex-Shaped Underwater VehicleChanaka Thushitha Bandara, Lakmali Nadeesha Kumari, Sanjeeva Maithripala, Asanga RatnaweeraIn this study we present attitude stabilization using a vehicle-fixed-frame adaptive controller and an intrinsic nonlinear PID controller for a low-speed Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), of complex shape. Controlling an AUV poses a huge challenge because of the non-linearity, time variance and unpredictable external disturbance, as well as because its dynamics and hydrodynamic parameters are difficult to identify due to … …Journal of Mechatronics and Robotics, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 7 Dec 2020 · 6,992 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDevelopment of a Fuzzy Logic Controller for Real-time Energy Optimization of a Hybrid vehicleSk. Khairul Hasan, Anoop Kumar DhingraThe ability to combine positive features of an internal combustion engine with those of an electric motor has been fundamental to the advancement of the high-performance energy-optimized hybrid vehicles. However, due to a lack of reliable and realistic hybrid vehicle models, much of the hybrid vehicle controller research has been limited to computer simulations. To overcome this shortcoming, this paper … …Journal of Mechatronics and Robotics, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 21 Oct 2020 · 6,955 accessesView PDFCite
