Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Efficient Hand-off Mechanism for Vehicular NetworksM. Dinakaran, P. BalasubramanieProblem statement: In recent times, wireless networks have become ubiquitous and the hotspot research arena. When a mobile node switches from one access network to another network, the node is said to perform a handoff. This transition is a complex and time-consuming task since after transit the mobile node has to obtain a new Care of Address (CoA) from the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 3 Nov 2011 · 7,289 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDesign Analysis of An Electromagnetic Band Gap Microstrip AntennaM.S. Alam, M.T. Islam, N. MisranProblem statement: Wideband compact antenna is highly demandable due to the dynamic development in the wireless technology. Approach: A simple, compact EBG microstrip antenna is proposed in this study that covers a wideband of 250 GHz and the design is conformal with the 2.45 GHz ISM band (WLAN, IEEE 802.11b and g)/Bluetooth/RFID applications. Results: A 6×6 array of square unit … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 27 Oct 2011 · 7,368 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractStudy of Performance Analysis in Wired and Wireless NetworkV.B. Kirubanand, S. PalaniammalProblem statement: The main intent of this study is to derive a high performance clientserver network using hub, switch, Bluetooth, WI-Fi and Wimax using the steadfast algorithms. Approach: This study mainly focuses on M/M (a,b)/1 markovian model with adaboost algorithm and user selection algorithms to find performance on wired and wireless technologies in terms of service rate, arrival rate, Expected … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 19 Jul 2011 · 7,472 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFuzzy Logic Controller for Wireless Video TransmissionK. P. Rajesh, K. S. RamaswamiProblem statement: As the Variable Bit Rate (VBR) is high in MPEG, the video experienced long delay and unexpected data loss. In wireless channel, due to noise and interference of other signals transmission rate cannot be predicted. Approach: In this paper we proposed an intelligent fuzzy logic controller for transmission of Moving Picture Expert Group (MPEG-4) video signals over wireless … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 30 Jun 2011 · 6,950 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Routing Protocol with High Energy Performance in Mobile Special NetworksAli Norouzi, B. Berk UstundagProblem statement: Mobile Special Networks do not have a predetermined structure. This type of networks can dynamically reorganize network connection relationships due to change of neighborhoods and the relative positions. Approach: There are many problems in creation of a special network such as routing, wireless media, energy consumption and transportability. Results: Although these networks primarily had been formed for small … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 15 Jan 2011 · 7,304 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Analysis of Power Aware Congestion Control Multipath Multicast Protocol for Mobile Ad hoc NetworkDuraiswamy Karuppaswamy, Vijayaragavan ShanmugamProblem statement: In MANETs, wireless link transmission errors, mobility and congestion are major causes for packet loss. Mobility may cause packet loss in different ways. Whereas congestion in a network occurs, whenever the demands exceed the maximum capacity of a communication link especially when multiple hosts try to access a shared media simultaneously. Approach: In this study, we proposed a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 2 Nov 2010 · 7,038 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Fault Tolerant Mobile Agent Information Retrieval SystemR. Punithavathi, K. DuraiswamyProblem statement: Most of the information retrieval systems used only client-server architectures. The client-server model though powerful, had some limitations. In mobile computing environment which has both wired network and wireless networks with limited communication capabilities, the performance of the system was very low. Approach: Mobile agents are considered a suitable technology to develop applications such as information retrieval system … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 5 · 31 May 2010 · 7,203 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomated Position System Implementation over Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks in 2-Dimension SpaceSoumen Kanrar, Mohammad SirajProblem statement: The real world scenario have changed from the wired connection to wireless connection. Over the years software development has responded to the increasing growth of wireless connectivity in developing network enabled software. The problem arises in the wireless domain due to random packet loss in transport layer and as well as in data link layer for the end … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2010 · 7,191 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIntegrated Metric-Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector: A Routing Protocol over Wireless Mesh NetworksMd. Arafatur Rahman, Farhat Anwar, Md. Saiful AzadProblem statement: Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) is an emerging technology for wireless environment. Since WMNs are permanent or semi-permanent network, an efficient and reliable path establishment is the core concern for such type of networks. Several performance metrics has been designed for WMNs such as Expected Transmission Count (ETX), Expected Transmission Time (ETT), interference Aware Routing Metric (iAWARE), Link Type … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2009 · 7,493 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractExperimental Evaluation of Medium Access Schemes in 802.11 Wireless NetworksG. Singh, B. S. SohiProblem statement: Deployment of real time services over 802.11 wireless networks requires quality of service (QoS) differentiation mechanisms for different traffic types. This required investigations into the performance of the Medium access (MAC) schemes like Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF) and Enhanced DCF with respect to the stringent QoS requirements imposed by the real time services. Motivation for this research was … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,136 accessesView PDFCite
