Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAntagonistic Effects of Fertilizer on Photochemical Efficiency of Hibiscus cannabinus L. (Kenaf) Planted on Beach Ridges Interspersed with Swales SoilMohd-Hazimy Yusoff, Hazandy Abdul-Hamid, Arifin Abdu et al.Problem statement: Hibiscus cannabinus L. or Kenaf is a highly productive, warmseasonal C3 annual crop and is one of the potential candidates to substitute kenaf fiber as raw product for pulp and paper production. It survives well on less fertile soils including those of Beach Ridges Interspersed with Swales (BRIS) soil. Approach: The objective of this study was to determine … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 19 Sep 2011 · 8,511 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSome Statistical Solutions and Methods in Evaluation of Efficiency in Sport and Effectiveness in the Phenomenon of Sportsmen' TrainingGheorghe Săvoiu, Ion Iorga, Marian Creţu, Ion MihăilăProblem statement: A general method for evaluation of efficiency in sport and effectiveness in the phenomenon of sportsmen’s training was proposed. Approach: The method of four “E” was a frame method focused on communication and evaluation, where efficiency acquired an essential importance and its variation related to the initial programme, with its time or space details, respectively related to the … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 18 Jul 2011 · 7,878 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAnalytical and Experimental Studies on the Thermal Efficiency of the Double-Pass Solar Air Collector with Finned AbsorberAhmad Fudholi, Kamaruzzaman Sopian, Mohd Hafidz Ruslan et al.Problem statement: The design of suitable air collectors is one of the most important factors controlling the economics of the solar drying. Air type collectors have two inherent disadvantages: Low thermal capacity of air and low absorber to air heat transfer coefficient. Different modifications are suggested and applied to improve the heat transfer coefficient between the absorber plate and air. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 7 · 24 Jun 2011 · 7,415 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEffects of Adhesive on Coupling Efficiency of Planar Light Waveguide PackagingYang Bo, Duan Ji-anProblem statement: Advanced optoelectronic devices are a kind of key and basic components for next generation communication, untouched sensor, medical testing. They have lots of advantages including greater communication performance, larger capacity, and more fixable form. But light coupling and package structure seriously affects performance of optoelectronic devices. So a lot of attaching methods were proposed to package optoelectronic devices. … …Current Research in Nanotechnology, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 21 Jun 2011 · 7,140 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleThermal Efficiency of Double Pass Solar Collector with Longitudinal Fins AbsorbersAhmad Fudholi, Kamaruzzaman Sopian, Mohd Hafidz Ruslan et al.Problem statement: One of the most important components of a solar energy system is the solar collector. The performances of double-pass solar collector with longitudinal fins absorbers are analyzed. Approach: The study involves a theoretical study to investigate the effect of mass flow rate, number and height of fins on efficiency, which involves steady-state energy balance equations on the longitudinal … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 3 · 25 Mar 2011 · 8,066 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleBanking Efficiency in Lebanon: An Empirical InvestigationMouataz Zreika, Nasser ElkanjProblem statement: The main goal behind this study is to identify whether banks are working at full efficiency or not and spot the changes in efficiency for banks operating in Lebanon after 2007 financial crisis. Approach: This study was conducted to examine the technical efficiency of 40 banks operating in Lebanon over the two sub-periods 2002-2006 and 2006-2009 using Data … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 12 Feb 2011 · 8,297 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAn Enhanced Russell Measure of Super-Efficiency for Ranking Efficient Units in Data Envelopment AnalysisAli Ashrafi, Azmi Bin Jaafar, Lai Soon Lee, Mohd Rizam Abu BakarProblem statement: Conventional Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) helps decision makers to discriminate between efficient and inefficient Decision Making Units (DMUs). However, DEA does not provide more information about the efficient DMUs. Super-efficiency DEA model can be used in ranking the performance of efficient DMUs. Because of the possible infeasibility of radial super-efficiency DEA model, the ranking has been limited to … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2011 · 8,798 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleNetwork Data Envelopment Analysis Model for Estimating Efficiency and Productivity in UniversitiesMohammad Mahallati Rayeni, Faranak Hosseinzadeh SaljooghiProblem statement: The aim of this study was to compute disaggregate performance measures of universities. The traditional models for Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) type performance measurement are based on thinking about production as a "black box". Inputs are transformed in this box into outputs. One of the drawbacks of these models is the neglect of linking activities. Approach: Network DEA … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 11 · 23 Oct 2010 · 7,880 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleReduce Computation Steps Can Increase the Efficiency of Computation AlgorithmZulkarnain Md. AliProblem statement: Lucas function is a special form of second-order linear recurrence relation. It is used in LUC cryptosystems. The performance of LUC cryptosystem depends on the size of public key, messages and two relatively primes. The increasing of size of these parameters will increase the computation time need to perform the LUC Cryptosystem computation. The efficiency means the quality … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 10 · 24 Aug 2010 · 7,015 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEconomic Signaling and Distributive Efficiency of Judicial DecisionsEdmund H. MantellProblem statement: This study considered the problem of how a judge can render an optimal decision in a lawsuit where two litigants each assert a property right in a case where the relevant information is asymmetrically distributed between the parties and the judicial decision-maker. Approach: The research embodied in this study defines an optimal decision as one reflecting the distributive … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2010 · 8,210 accessesView PDFCite
