Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMultimodal Biometrics using Feature FusionK. Krishneswari, S. ArumugamProblem statement: Biometric is a unique, measurable physiological or behavioral characteristic of a person and finds extensive applications in authentication and authorization. Fingerprint, palm print, iris, voice, are some of the most widely used biometric for personal identification. To reduce the error rates and enhance the usability of biometric system, multimodal biometric systems are used where more than one biometric … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 3 · 24 Jan 2012 · 7,370 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSmart Card Identification Management Over A Distributed Database ModelOlatubosun OlabodeProblem statement: An effective national identification system is a necessity in any national government for the proper implementation and execution of its governmental policies and duties. Approach: Such data can be held in a database relation in a distributed database environment. Till date, The Nigerian government is yet to have an effective and efficient National Identification Management System despite the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 15 Oct 2011 · 6,864 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIris Recognition Without Iris NormalizationLenina Birgale, M. KokareProblem statement: In any real time biometric system processing speed and recognition time are crucial parameters. Reducing processing time involves many parameters like normalization, FAR, FRR, management of eyelid and eyelash occlusions, size of signature etc. Normalization consumes substantial amount of time of the system. This study contributes for improved iris recognition system with reduced processing time, False Acceptance Rate … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2010 · 7,807 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Odor Key Technique for Security Applications Using Electronic Nose SystemMahmoud Z. IskandaraniProblem statement: A novel approach to security applications that makes use of odors as password generators is developed and tested. The developed system detects and converts odor signals that are randomly selected to binary signals and then intelligently compares them with previously stored values. Approach: The interface device in question then either opens its interface if comparison is successful or … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 7,186 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractNeural Network Based Accurate Biometric Recognition and Identification of Human Iris PatternsM. Gopikrishnan, T. SanthanamProblem statement: A biometric system provides automatic identification of an individual based on a unique feature or characteristic possessed by the individual. Iris recognition is regarded as the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system available. Approach: Most commercial iris recognition systems use patented algorithms developed by Daugman and these algorithms are able to produce perfect recognition rates. However, published … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 10 · 10 Aug 2010 · 7,155 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFace Biometrics Based on Principal Component Analysis and Linear Discriminant AnalysisLih-Heng Chan, Sh-Hussain Salleh, Chee-Ming TingProblem statement: In facial biometrics, face features are used as the required human traits for automatic recognition. Feature extracted from face images are significant for face biometrics system performance. Approach: In this thesis, a framework of facial biometric was designed based on two subspace methods i.e., Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA). First, PCA is used for … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2010 · 7,664 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOff-Line Signature Authentication Based on Moment Invariants Using Support Vector Machinek. R. Radhika, M. K. Venkatesha, G. N. SekharProblem statement: The research addressed the computational load reduction in off-line signature verification based on minimal features using bayes classifier, fast Fourier transform, linear discriminant analysis, principal component analysis and support vector machine approaches. Approach: The variation of signature in genuine cases is studied extensively, to predict the set of quad tree components in a genuine sample for one person … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 7,242 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBlack White Color and Gray Pixel Extraction ModelK. Selvam, B. PoornaThis is a design approach of software on image and pattern recognition, while eliminating the color and gray code of an image for comparison. This approach is quite effective for black and white and color images or scenes. Here we select particular part or parts of a given image and we compare with the contents of template-image (biometric) database.
