Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesImprovement of the Vertical Dispersion of Pollutants Resulting From Chimneys by Thermosiphon EffectA. O.M. Mahmoud, J. Zinoubi, R. B. Maad, A. BelghithThe dispersion of pollutants, resulting from industrial chimneys, in the surrounding atmosphere made the interest in realizing emitting conditions appears. It also encourages the vertical dispersion of these pollutants. At a given wind velocity, the height of this dispersion is essentially a function of the thermal power and the flow rate at the chimney exit. To improve these qualities, we … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2006 · 7,411 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesMathematical Modeling and Interpretation of PbPc Gas Sensor ArrayNidal F. Shilbayeh, Mahmoud Z. IskandaraniThe voltage/current characteristics and the effect of NO2 gas on the electrical conductivity of a PbPc gas sensor array is investigated. The gas sensor is manufactured using vacuum deposition of gold electrodes on sapphire substrate with the lead-phathalocyanine vacuum sublimed on the top of the gold electrodes. Two versions of the PbPc gas sensor array are investigated. The tested types … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2006 · 6,791 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesStudy of the Flow Structure of A Thermal Plume Evolving in an Unlimited and in A Semi-Enclosed EnvironmentJamil Zinoubi, A. Ould Mohamed Mahmoud, Taoufik Naffouti et al.The basic objective of this study was to better knowledge the fine flow structure of thermal plume created by a heated disk, evolving in an unlimited and in a semi-enclosed environment. The flow visualization and the study of the temperature fluctuations spectrum show clearly a considerable change of the turbulent structure of the internal flow in comparison with the free … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2006 · 7,034 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesThe Incidence Rate of Carcinoid Tumors in Appendectomy Specimens in Iran 1993-2003Mahammad-Arash Ramezani, Mehdi Hayatbakhsh, Mohammad-Bagher Daneshtalab et al.Carcinoid tumors are the most common neoplasm of the appendix vermiform and appear to have increased in incidence in the past 20 years. In the cross sectional study 5048 appendectomy specimens at 10 years periods of year -1993 to 2003- were evaluated in pathology department. Twelve Carcinoid tumor of the appendix were identified (0.2%). There was female rate higher than … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2006 · 6,809 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesA Fast Approximate String Searching AlgorithmMahmoud Mhashi, Adnan Rawashdeh, Awni HammouriIn both approximate and exact string searching algorithms, the shift distance at the skipping step plays a major role in the performance of string matching algorithms. A new algorithm called the Modified Character-Weight Algorithm (MWA) has been developed to test the effect of the shift distance on the performance of approximate string matching. An experiment was performed comparing the performance … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,915 accessesView PDFCite
