Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Detection and Classification Algorithm for Power Quality Disturbances using WaveletsC. Sharmeela, M. R. Mohan, G. Uma, J. BaskaranThis study presents a novel method to detect and classify power quality disturbances using wavelets. The proposed algorithm uses different wavelets each for a particular class of disturbance. The method uses wavelet filter banks in an effective way and does multiple filtering to detect the disturbances. A qualitative comparison of results shows the advantages and drawbacks of each wavelet when … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2006 · 6,632 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLICENSE PLATE LOCALIZATION USING GABOR FILTERS AND NEURAL NETWORKSSami Ktata, Faouzi Benzarti, Hamid AmiriVehicle License Plate Detection (LPD) is an important step for the vehicle plate recognition which can be used in the intelligent transport systems. Many methods have been proposed for the detection of license plates based on: Mathematical morphology, Discrete Wavelet Transform, Hough Transform and others. In general, an LPR system includes four main parts: Vehicle image acquisition, license plate detection, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 5 Sep 2013 · 6,977 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordDESIGN IMPLEMENTATION AND HARDWARE STRUCTURE FOR IMAGE ENHANCEMENT AND SURFACE ROUGHNESS WITH FEATURE EXTRACTION USING DISCRETE WAVELET TRANSFORMSyed Jahangir Badashah, P. SubbaiahIn this study we provide the implementation design and hardware structure for the architecture proposed in the previous paper &#34Image Enhancement and Surface Roughness with Feature Extraction using DWT&#34 IEEE DoI/10.1049/cp.2011.0464. The proposed architecture has been implemented in Microwind and Tanner for power analysis and characteristic study. The result shows very low power consumption than the existing method for a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 20 Nov 2013 · 6,780 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordMedical Image Compression Using Fuzzy C-Means Based Contourlet TransformM. Tamilarasi, V. PalanisamyProblem statement: To meet the demand for high speed transmission of image in efficient image storage and remote medical treatment, the efficient image compression is essential. The contourlet transform along with wavelet theory has great potential in medical image compression. Approach: The significant portion of the medical image applied with Fuzzy C-means based contourlet transform. DWT applied to the rest … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 9 · 25 Jul 2011 · 7,082 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordClassifying Single Trail Electroencephalogram Using Gaussian Smoothened Fast Hartley Transform for Brain Computer Interface during Motor ImageryV. B. Deepa, P. Thangaraj, S. ChitraProblem statement: Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) is a emerging research area which translates the brain signals for any motor related actions into computer understandable signals by capturing the signal, processing the signal and classifying the motor imagery. This area of work finds various applications in neuroprosthetics. Mental activity leads to changes of electrophysiological signals like the Electroencephalogram (EEG) or Electrocorticogram (ECoG). … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 6,658 accessesView PDF Cite
