Review ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHuman Activity Recognition at the Edge: A Systematic Review of Machine Learning Models, Deployment Constraints, and Latency Energy Accuracy Trade offsJose Antonio Rojas Guillén, Wini Ebelin Quispe Bautista, Arturo Gamarra MorenoHuman Activity Recognition (HAR) has become a key component of intelligent healthcare monitoring, assisted living, sports analytics, smart environments, and wearable computing. However, the migration of HAR models from cloud-centered architectures to edge, embedded, mobile, and wearable platforms introduces constraints related to computational capacity, memory footprint, battery consumption, inference time, and real-time responsiveness. This study presents a systematic literature review … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 8 · 7 Sep 2026 · 593 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDevelopment of a Fuzzy Logic Controller for Real-time Energy Optimization of a Hybrid vehicleSk. Khairul Hasan, Anoop Kumar DhingraThe ability to combine positive features of an internal combustion engine with those of an electric motor has been fundamental to the advancement of the high-performance energy-optimized hybrid vehicles. However, due to a lack of reliable and realistic hybrid vehicle models, much of the hybrid vehicle controller research has been limited to computer simulations. To overcome this shortcoming, this paper … …Journal of Mechatronics and Robotics, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 21 Oct 2020 · 6,950 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Approach to Wheelchair Design and Operation Using Multi-Function ControllerJamal I. Al-NabulsiAn electric multi-function controlled wheelchair is designed and fully tested. This wheelchair is controlled by several physiological variables namely; voice, head movement, finger bending, breathing pressure and Electrooculography (EOG). The patient has the choice to use any of these variables to control the wheelchair. The voice command is recorded by a voice recognition module with its microphone, whereas, the head … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 16, Issue 7 · 25 Jul 2020 · 6,762 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomated Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda, J.E. Smith) Pheromone Trap Based on Machine LearningSimon H. Chiwamba, Jackson Phiri, Philip O.Y. Nkunika et al.Maize is the main food crop that meets the nutritional needs of both humans and livestock in the sub-Saharan African region. Maize crop has in the recent past been threatened by the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda, J.E Smith) which has caused considerable maize yield losses in the region. Controlling this pest requires knowledge on the time, location and extent of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 12 · 19 Dec 2019 · 8,364 accessesView PDFCite
