Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleTakagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Gains Scheduled PI Controller for Enhancement of Power System StabilityLokman H. Hassan, M. Moghavvemi, Haider A.F. MohamedProblem statement: Power system oscillations affect system stability and may lead to failure if not properly controlled. Approach: A Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Gains Scheduled Proportional and Integral (FGPI) controller was proposed for a Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC)-based stabilizer to enhance the power system stability. Linguistic rules and fuzzy inference mechanism are utilized to tune the controller parameters on-line in different … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,541 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleUsing an Adaptative Fuzzy-Logic System to Optimize the Performances and the Reduction of Chattering Phenomenon in the Control of Induction MotorM. M. Krishan, L. Barazane, A. KhwaldehProblem statement: Neural networks and fuzzy inference systems are becoming well-recognized tools of designing an identifier/controller capable of perceiving the operating environment and imitating a human operator with high performance. Also, by combining these two features, more versatile and robust models, called “neuro-fuzzy” architectures have been developed. The mo Approach: Motivation behind the use of neuro-fuzzy approaches was based on … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,523 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA New Engineering Method for Fuzzy Reliability Analysis of Surge Control in Centrifugal CompressorAhmed Hafaifa, Ferhat Laaouad, Moulod GuemanaProblem statement: The surge phenomenon in the centrifugal compressor, the non-linearities and uncertainties of the compression system make it impossible to use a conventional controller over a wide range of operation. Approach: A new dual fuzzy controller for nonlinear model of compression system was proposed in this study. This fuzzy controller was designed that consisted of active surge control and … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2009 · 8,224 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHybrid Fuzzy Logic Control with Input Shaping for Input Tracking and Sway Suppression of a Gantry Crane SystemM. A. Ahmad, Z. MohamedProblem statement: Most of the common gantry crane results in a sway motion when transporting the load as fast as possible. In addition, precise cart position control of gantry crane must required a zero or near zero residual sway. Approach: In this study, the development of hybrid control schemes for input tracking and anti-sway control of a gantry crane system … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2009 · 8,057 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMulti-Product Multi-Constraint Inventory Control Systems with Stochastic Replenishment and Discount under Fuzzy Purchasing Price and Holding CostsAta Allah Taleizadeh, Seyed Taghi Akhavan Niaki, Mir-Bahador AryanezhadWhile in multi-periodic inventory control problems the usual assumption are that the orders are placed at the beginning of each period (periodic review) or depending on the inventory level they can happen at any time (continuous review), in this research, we relax these assumptions and assume that the periods between two replenishments of the products are independent and identically distributed … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2009 · 8,085 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesign and Implementation of an Optimal Fuzzy Logic Controller Using Genetic AlgorithmS. Khan, S. F. Abdulazeez, L. W. Adetunji et al.All control systems suffer from problems related to undesirable overshoot, longer settling times and vibrations while going form one state to another state. Most of relevant techniques had been in the form of suggesting modification and improvement in the instrumentation or interfacing part of the control system and the results reported, remain suffering from shortcomings related to hardware parameter dependence … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2008 · 8,049 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDirect Model Reference Adaptive Controller Based-On Neural-Fuzzy Techniques for Nonlinear Dynamical SystemsHafizah Husain, Marzuki Khalid, Rubiyah YusofThis paper presents a direct neural-fuzzy-based Model Reference Adaptive Controller (MRAC) for nonlinear dynamical systems with unknown parameters. The two-phase learning is implemented to perform structure identification and parameter estimation for the controller. In the first phase, similarity index-based fuzzy c-means clustering technique extracts the fuzzy rules in the premise part for the neural-fuzzy controller. This technique enables the recruitment … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 6,939 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleConstruction of Control Charts Using Fuzzy Multinomial QualityV. Amirzadeh, M. Mashinchi, M.A. YaghoobiControl charts are the simplest type of on-line statistical process control techniques. One of the basic control charts is P-chart. In classical P-charts, each item classifies as either "nonconforming" or "conforming" to the specification with respect to the quality characteristic. In practice, one may classify each item in more than two categories such as "bad", "medium", "good", and "excellent". Based … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2008 · 7,530 accessesView PDFCite
