Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEmbedded Systems Education for Multiple DisciplinesAli H. El-Mousa, Ashraf Al-SuyyaghProblem statement: This study described the process and experience of designing and developing an embedded systems first course that serves different disciplines at the University of Jordan together with its associated laboratory. The course serves three different departments with varying requirements and varying student initial background. The stages of the design process of the course and associated labs are explored. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Jun 2010 · 7,103 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractField Programmable Gate Array -Based System-on-Chip for Real-Time Power Process ControlAhmed Karim Ben Salem, Slim Ben Othman, Slim Ben SaoudProblem Statement: Nowadays Real-Time (RT) embedded control applications require not just higher performance but more flexibility as well without increasing cost and resources. Approach: In this study we presented a promising co-design and implementation of control solution. We developed flexible solution using software control algorithms coupled with an embedded RT kernel on powerful embedded processor cores, combined with reconfigurable logic … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,459 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Approach to Modeling Software Safety in Safety-Critical SystemsBen Swarup Medikonda, Seetha Ramaiah PanchumarthySoftware for safety-critical systems has to deal with the hazards identified by safety analysis in order to make the system safe, risk-free and fail-safe. Software safety is a composite of many factors. Problem statement: Existing software quality models like McCall’s and Boehm’s and ISO 9126 were inadequate in addressing the software safety issues of real time safety-critical embedded systems. At … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2009 · 7,737 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDynamically Reconfigurable Embedded Architecture-An Alternative To Application-Specific Digital Signal Processing ArchitecturesN. Ramadass, S. Natarajan, J. Raja Paul PerinbamEmerging trends in design of real-time digital signal processing systems indicate that in the future, a significant amount of performance improvement can be achieved using dynamically reconfigurable embedded architectures consisting of reconfigurable, general-purpose components. Although embedded real-time systems have long been prevailing in our society, no firm scientific base has been established yet to handle timing requirements in a systematic … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2007 · 6,735 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFrom Design Specification to SystemCRachid Boudour, Mohamed T. KimourIn this paper, we present a framework for transforming the design model into SystemC code. Such a framework uses as input UML state machine and object diagrams, which are more and more used as design models in embedded systems. To do this, we have firstly used Poseidon tool for editing the design model and generating the XMI representation, and secondly … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2006 · 7,207 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnalysis of Time-Delayed Neural Networks via Rightmost Eigenvalue PositionsSun Yi, Sangseok Yu, Jung H. Kim, Taher M. Abu-LebdehNeural networks have been frequently used in various areas. In the implementation of the networks, time delays and uncertainty are present and known to lead to complex behaviors, which are hard to predict using classical analysis methods. In this study, stability and robust stability of neural networks considering time delays and parametric uncertainty is studied. For stability analysis, the rightmost … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 26 Jan 2015 · 8,063 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Defense Mechanism for Differential Power Analysis Attack in AESJ. Vijaya, M. RajaramIn modern wireless communication world, the security of data transfer has been the most challenging task. In embedded system, AES is the most extensively used cryptographic algorithm in practice. But its functionality has been disrupted by the DPA attack. There have been several countermeasures to tackle those attacks, but this study proposes variably a new measure to defend this DPA … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 2 · 1 Sep 2014 · 7,265 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe use of Random Forest Classification and K-means Clustering Algorithm for Detecting Time Stamped Signatures in the Active NetworksKamalanaban Ethala, R. Shesadri, N. G. RenganathanIn day to day information security infrastructure, intrusion detection is indispensible. Signature based intrusion detection system mechanisms are often available in detecting many types of attacks. But this mechanism alone is not sufficient in many cases. Another intrusion detection method viz K-means is employed for clustering and classifying the unlabelled data. IDS is a special embedded device or relied software … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 18 Jun 2013 · 7,500 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordAndroid Based Energy Aware Framework for Porting Legacy ApplicationsNaeem Zafar AzeemiTrend is growing towards using complex multimedia functions on smaller devices. In this study, we explore the effect of migrating legacy signal processing software applications algorithms from large form factor devices to the smaller one such as handheld mobile devices known as Energy Conscious Mobile Computing Systems (EConMCS). We concentrate on Source Code Volatility (SCV), including inherent algorithm complexity and … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 12 · 3 Jan 2015 · 6,294 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordMicrocontroller Based Power SupplyTanvir Singh Mundra, Er. Satwinder Singh Sachdeva, K.S. KahlonThese days, majority of electronic devices work on DC power source, so there was a requirement of a reliable and customized power supply. Generally, the requirements are not too varied, but still they require every time a new hardware designing. The idea presented here is to build a microcontroller controlled power supply[1] that is flexible enough to meet different customer … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2006 · 6,787 accessesView PDFCite
