Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEmerging Trends in Designing Short and Efficient Protein Purification ProtocolsSaurabh Gautam, Joyeeta Mukherjee, Ipsita Roy, Munishwar Nath GuptaProtein purification is carried out in both academic and industrial sectors. Both non-chromatographic approaches (precipitation, crystallization, partitioning) and chromatographic methods are used. When recombinant proteins are over expressed in foreign hosts, inclusion bodies are obtained. Many purification methods can be used to refold proteins. Many strategies allow one to avoid formation of inclusion bodies. The concept of affinity based separation … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 25 Dec 2012 · 9,007 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesigning of Child Growth Chart Based on Multi-Response Local Polynomial ModelingNur Chamidah, I. Nyoman Budiantara, Sony Sunaryo, Ismaini ZainProblem statements: Anthropometry measures used to measure physical children growth are not onlyweight but also height and head circumference. In this study we develop the estimation of multi-response localpolynomial regression and apply it to design growth chart for children up to five years old based on three responsevariables i.e., weight, height and head circumference. Approach: Based on local polynomial estimator, … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 8, Issue 3 · 4 Sep 2012 · 7,506 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleApplying Software Engineering Methodology for Designing Biomedical Software Devoted To Electronic InstrumentationGilsa Aparecida de Lima Machado, Patricia Mara Danella Zacaro, Alderico Rodrigues de Paula Junior, Marcelo Lopes de Oliveira e SouzaProblem statement: Significant effort goes into the development of biomedical software, which is integrated with computers/processors, sensors and electronic instrumentation devoted to a specific application. However, the scientific work on electronic instrumentation controlled by biomedical software has not emphasized software development, instead focusing mainly on electronics engineering. The development team is rarely composed of Software Engineering (SE) experts. Usually, a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 10 · 23 Aug 2012 · 6,971 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Novel Methodology for Designing Radix-2n Serial-Serial MultipliersAbdurazzag Sulaiman AlmiladiProblem statement: The fast growth and increase in complexity of digital and image processing systems necessitate the migration from ad hoc design methods to methodological ones. Methodologies will certainly ease the trade off selection for those systems and shortens the design time. To increase those gained values and expand the searching space more appropriate methodologies need to be developed. Approach: … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2010 · 6,922 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMicroelectrical Mechanical Systems Switch for Designing Multi-Band AntennaA.H.M. Zahirul Alam, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Sheroz Khan, Muhammad Mahbubur RashidProblem statement: In this study Microelectrical Mechanical System (MEMS) switches were proposed to design a reconfigurable/multi-band antenna to replaced PIN diode switches or semiconductor switches due to lower insertion losses, good isolation, much lower intermodulation distortion, and lower power consumption. The antenna is able to operate at very high frequencies. Approach: A reconfigurable antenna that is capable to operate at … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2009 · 6,687 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesigning for Comfort and Reliability in an Intelligent Car SeatD.A. Wahab, N.F. Adull Manan, M.A. Hannan et al.Today, intelligent safety systems are installed in modern cars in view of minimising road hazards. An intelligent air bag system for example, comprised several subsystems that are integrated to include the weight sensor system, image sensor system, crash sensor system and tyre pressure monitoring system. These systems when poorly positioned into the car seat, will certainly affect comfort and reliability … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2008 · 7,596 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAn Engineer's Mathematical Approach to Designing an Emergency Room Decontamination Area for Weapons of Mass Destruction CasualtiesEldo E. Frezza, Erica Fletcher, Veronica Flores et al.This study will focus on the potential requirements for an emergency response facility in case of weapons of mass destruction casualties proposing mathematical models. A complete emergency room layout will be designed taking the following analyses and requirements into consideration: quality function development (QFD) and product layout; average number of patients in the system, average time in the system, average … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2007 · 8,429 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesigning of PID Controller for Discrete Time Linear System Using Balanced Approach Reduced Order ModelC.S. Ravichandran, S. Subha Rani, T. ManikandanModeling physical systems usually results in complex high-order dynamic models. It is often desirable to approximate these models by simpler models with reduced order. This study deals with the design of discrete time linear system using a balanced approach reduced order model. The reduced order model retains the desired state variable which contains a significant contribution. A PID controller is … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2007 · 7,128 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesigning Omni-Directional Mobile Robot with Mecanum WheelJefri Efendi Mohd Salih, Mohamed Rizon, Sazali Yaacob et al.This study presents the processes undertaken in the design and development of an intelligent omni-directional mobile robot using four custom-made mecanum wheels. The mecanum wheel developed consists of nine rollers made from delrin. All mecanum wheels are independently powered using four units of precisian gear DC motors and the wheel/motor assemblies were mounted directly to the robot chassis made using … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 9,593 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDesigning and Building an Automatic Information Retrieval System for Handling the Arabic DataIbrahiem M.M. El Emary, Ja'far AtwanThis paper aimed to design and build an Automatic Information Retrieval System to handle the Arabic data. Also, this paper presents some type of comparison between the retrieval results using the vector space model in two different indexing methods: the full-ward indexing and the root indexing. The proposed Automatic Information Retrieval system was implemented and built using a traditional model … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2005 · 6,887 accessesView PDFCite
