Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Optimal Load Sharing Technique For Grid ComputingD. Ramesh, A. KrishnanProblem statement: Grid and Cloud Computing is the fast growing industry, in which the grid computing shares the resources in the organization in an effective manner. Resource sharing requires more optimized algorithmic structure, otherwise the waiting time and response time are increased and the resource utilization is reduced. Approach: In order to avoid such reduction in the performances of the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 29 May 2012 · 6,965 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnt Colony Optimization for Container Loading ProblemC. N. Yap, L. S. Lee, Z. A. Majid, H. V. SeowProblem statement: The Container Loading Problem (CLP) considers packing a subset of given rectangular boxes into a rectangular container of fixed dimensions in the most optimum way. This was very important in the logistics industries and warehousing problems, since the cost can be reduced by increasing the space utilization ratio. Approach: This problem was solved in a two-phased Ant Colony … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 20 Mar 2012 · 8,561 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnt Colony Optimization for Capacitated Vehicle Routing ProblemW. F. Tan, L. S. Lee, Z. A. Majid, H. V. SeowProblem statement: The Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem which is concerned with the distribution of goods between the depot and customers. It is of economic importance to businesses as approximately 10-20% of the final cost of the goods is contributed by the transportation process. Approach: This problem was tackled using an Ant Colony Optimization … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 6 · 15 Mar 2012 · 10,043 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Ventricular Late Potential Classification System Using Ant Colony OptimizationA. Sankara Subramanian, G. Gurusamy, G. SelvakumarProblem statement: Ventricular Late Potentials (VLPs) are low-level high frequency signals that are usually found within the terminal part of the QRS complex from patients after myocardial infarction. Patients with VLPs are at risk of developing ventricular tachycardia, which is the major cause of death if patients suffering from heart disease. Approach: Discrete Wavelet Transform was used to detect VLPs … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 30 Nov 2011 · 6,883 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractWavelet Analysis and Orthogonal Moments based Classification of Microcalcification in Digital MammogramsN. V.S. Sree Rathna Lakshmi, C. ManoharanProblem statement: An important early sign of breast cancer is the clusters of micro calcifications in digital mammograms. To assist radiologists in the diagnosis of mammographic clusters a novel hybrid algorithm has been developed. Approach: A method, for detecting micro calcification in mammograms based on combined feature set with Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) was proposed. The diagonal matrix ‘S’ obtained … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 10 · 6 Aug 2011 · 6,558 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLoad Balancing of Distributed Systems Based on Multiple Ant Colonies OptimizationAl-Dahoud Ali, Mohamed A. Belal, Moh’d Belal Al-ZoubiProblem statement: Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) provides a meta-heuristic optimization tool and collective intelligence model to several applications such as routing and load balancing. A lot of work found in the literature on using ACO in load balancing. However, as far as our knowledge, there was no work relating load balancing in distributed systems with ACO. Approach: In this study, … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 7,209 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMultiple Constraints for Ant Based Multicast Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksA. Sabari, K. DuraiswamyProblem statement: A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is one of the challenging environments for multicast. Since the associated overhead is more, the existing studies illustrate that tree-based and mesh-based on-demand protocols are not the best choice. The costs of the tree under multiple constraints are reduced by the several algorithms which are based on the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 6,868 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnt Colony Optimization for Solving Solid Waste Collection Scheduling ProblemsZ. Ismail, S. L. LohProblem statement: Southern Waste Management environment (SWM environment) is a company responsible for the collection and disposal of solid waste for the city of Johor Bahru, a city with over one million populations. The company is implementing an integrated solid waste management system where it involved in the optimization of resources to ensure the effectiveness of its services. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEmbedding Malaysian House Red Ant Behavior into an Ant Colony SystemZ. A. Othman, H. M. Rais, A. R. HamdanProblem statement: Ant Colony System (ACS) is the most popular algorithm used to find a shortest path solution in Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). Several ACS versions have been proposed which aim to achieve an optimum solution by adjusting pheromone levels. However, it still has a room on an improvement. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMemory Convergence and Optimization with Fuzzy PSO and ACSSubhash C. Pandey, Dr. P. MisraAssociative neural memories are models of biological phenomena that allow for the storage of pattern associations and the retrieval of the desired output pattern upon presentation of a possibly noisy or incomplete version of an input pattern. In this study, we introduce fuzzy swarm particle optimization technique for convergence of associative neural memories based on fuzzy set theory.
