Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSpeed Control of Switched Reluctance Motor Using New Hybrid Particle Swarm OptimizationT. V. Mahendiran, K. Thanushkodi, P. ThangamProblem statement: The main objective of this research is to obtain the speed control of switched reluctance motor with minimum settling time and without overshoot. Approach: A new algorithm has been developed with the combination of differential evolution and particle swarm optimization and applied for speed control of switched reluctance motor under sudden change in speed. Also speed control of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 9 · 10 Aug 2012 · 7,436 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMobile Anonymous Trust Based Routing Using Ant Colony OptimizationR. Kalpana, N. RengarajanProblem statement: Ad hoc networks are susceptible to malicious attacks through denial of services, traffic analysis and spoofing. The security of the ad hoc routing protocol depends upon encryption, authentication, anonymity and trust factors. End-to-end security of data is provided by encryption and authentication, topology information of the nodes can be obtained by studying traffic and routing data. This security … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 30 Jun 2012 · 6,946 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Cooperative Algorithm Based on PSO and K-Means for Data ClusteringMehdi Neshat, Shima Farshchian Yazdi, Daneyal Yazdani, Mehdi SargolzaeiProblem statement: Data clustering has been applied in multiple fields such as machine learning, data mining, wireless sensor networks and pattern recognition. One of the most famous clustering approaches is K-means which effectively has been used in many clustering problems, but this algorithm has some drawbacks such as local optimal convergence and sensitivity to initial points. Approach: Particle Swarm Optimization … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 19 Nov 2011 · 7,967 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPAPR Reduction Using BPSO/PTS and STBC in MIMO OFDM SystemKarima El Mouhib, Ahmed Oquour, Younes Jabrane et al.Problem statement: The Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system has been receiving a great attention, as one of solutions for achieving high speed, efficient and high-quality service for the wireless communications. However, the transmitted signal still has high PAPR because of OFDM characteristics. Many methods have been proposed to solve this problem, but the most … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 7,189 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Particle Swarm Optimization Based Edge Preserving Impulse Noise FilterS. Mohamed Mansoor Roomi, P.L. Muthu Karuppi, P. Rajesh, B. Guru RevathiProblem statement: Image sensors and communication channels often introduce impulse noise in image transmission. The most common filters available to remove such noise are median filter and its variants but the major drawbacks identified with them are blurring of edge detail and low noise suppression. To preserve the sharp and useful information in the image, the filtering algorithms are required … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2010 · 7,470 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSwarm-Based Feature Selection for Handwriting IdentificationSiti Zaiton Mohd Hashim, Khaled Mohammed Bin AbdlProblem statement: Handwriting identification is the study for identifying or verifying the writer of a given handwritten document. Since the handwriting features are the cornerstone in the writers' classification process, the classifier accuracy is sensitive in terms of how the writers are scored based on the used features. Approach: In this study, we introduced swarm intelligence as a features weighting … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,403 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFuzzy Swarm Based Text SummarizationMohammed Salem Binwahlan, Naomie Salim, Ladda SuanmaliProblem statement: The aim of automatic text summarization systems is to select the most relevant information from an abundance of text sources. A daily rapid growth of data on the internet makes the achieve events of such aim a big challenge. Approach: In this study, we incorporated fuzzy logic with swarm intelligence; so that risks, uncertainty, ambiguity and imprecise values … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 30 May 2009 · 7,412 accessesView PDF Cite
