Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsCoverage Eligibility Rule based Coverage Maintenance Protocol for Energy Conservation in Wireless Sensor NetworksA. Balamurugan, T. PurushothamanProblem statement: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) comprise of small nodes with sensing, computation and wireless communication capabilities. Nodes in a sensor network are severely constrained by energy and computing power. Continuous working of sensor nodes leads to quick depletion of battery power and reduces the overall lifetime. To prolong the lifetime of the sensor nodes, efficient routing protocol that could … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 10 · 6 Aug 2011 · 6,630 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsFuzzy Logic Controller for Wireless Video TransmissionK. P. Rajesh, K. S. RamaswamiProblem statement: As the Variable Bit Rate (VBR) is high in MPEG, the video experienced long delay and unexpected data loss. In wireless channel, due to noise and interference of other signals transmission rate cannot be predicted. Approach: In this paper we proposed an intelligent fuzzy logic controller for transmission of Moving Picture Expert Group (MPEG-4) video signals over wireless … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 30 Jun 2011 · 6,950 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsStrength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm based Multi-Objective Optimization for Shortest Path Routing Problem in Computer NetworksSubbaraj Potti, Chitra ChinnasamyProblem statement: A new multi-objective approach, Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm (SPEA), is presented in this paper to solve the shortest path routing problem. The routing problem is formulated as a multi-objective mathematical programming problem which attempts to minimize both cost and delay objectives simultaneously. Approach: SPEA handles the shortest path routing problem as a true multi-objective optimization problem with competing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 16 Dec 2010 · 8,216 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAn Improved Resource Reservation ProtocolDesire Oulai, Steven Chamberland, Samuel PierreThe classical resource reservation protocol (RSVP) is a flow-based signaling protocol used for reserving resources in the network for a given session. RSVP maintains state information for each reservation at every router along the path. Even though this protocol is very popular, he has some weaknesses. Indeed, RSVP does not include a bidirectional reservation process and it requires refresh messages … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2007 · 6,488 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPrioritized Experience Replay-Based Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient for Reliable Path Selection in SDN-IoT NetworksGaurav Kumar, G. S. Girisha, N. ShamanthRouting optimization is becoming prominent in Software-Defined Networks (SDN) due to the exponential growth of network traffic demands and the requirement for Quality of Service (QoS). However, reliable routing that satisfies the QoS requirements, such as end-to-end delay, packet loss, and bandwidth, remains a difficult task in SDN. To overcome this limitation, a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL)-based Prioritized Experience Replay-based … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 8 · 4 Aug 2026 · 1,001 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCross-Layer Design for Combining Adaptive Modulation and Coding with DMMPP Queuing for Wireless NetworksManikandan Arunachalam, Naresh Kumar Babu, Anandan Perumal et al.Resource management and Quality of Service (QoS) are seen as key concerns for many applications in 5G networks since they support millions of linked devices. When sharing information over error-prone wireless networks, these resource management strategies are necessary to fulfill multimedia applications with a minimum throughput guarantee, low error probability, and high tolerated delay. One of the most complex traffic … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 19, Issue 6 · 31 May 2023 · 5,419 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIRED: An Improved Active Queue Management AlgorithmSamuel Oluwatosin Hassan, Adewole Usman Rufai, Samson Ojo Ogunlere et al.Quality of Service (QoS) of Internet routers is still challenged with the issue of congestion. Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms aimed at improving end-to-end delay of packets by keeping the average queue size small. This objective is yet to be fully accomplished, especially for interactive services. In this study, an AQM algorithm named Improved Random Early Detection (IRED) algorithm based … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 18, Issue 3 · 28 Mar 2022 · 6,597 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractRationalizing Resource Utilization in Cloud Computing Using Coalition Formation StrategyHend Fakhri Noureldin, Mai FadelEven though the contribution of cloud computing towards the Sustainable Development (SD) of communities is still under research investigation, cloud computing has become an integral part of many ICT solutions that shape our daily lives. Thus, some researchers recommend taking considerable actions to point cloud computing development towards supporting SD. In this research, an approach to designing energy efficient cloud … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 6 · 15 Jun 2021 · 6,978 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Evaluation of Interference Mitigation Techniques in 4G Networks in Mobile EnvironmentsEmna Hajlaoui, Abdelhakim Khlifi, Samia Dardouri et al.Intercell Interference (ICI) is one of the major factors that limit the performance and Quality of Service (QoS) of 4G wireless networks (Long Term Evolution/LTE-Advanced). For this reason, heterogeneous networks present an attractive solution for the improvement of mobile network’s services to provide better data rates and coverage. So, a key scheme in 4G traffic processing is the interference mitigation … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 12 · 25 Dec 2019 · 7,317 accessesView PDFCite
