Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractExperimental Evaluation of Medium Access Schemes in 802.11 Wireless NetworksG. Singh, B. S. SohiProblem statement: Deployment of real time services over 802.11 wireless networks requires quality of service (QoS) differentiation mechanisms for different traffic types. This required investigations into the performance of the Medium access (MAC) schemes like Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF) and Enhanced DCF with respect to the stringent QoS requirements imposed by the real time services. Motivation for this research was … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,136 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAdding Quality of Service Extensions to the Enhanced Associativity Based Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET)Ayman Mansour Murad, Bassam Al-MahadeenThis paper described how to discover routes that can satisfy QoS service requirements by using extensions to the Enhanced Associativity Bases Routing Protocol (EABR). These extensions were added to the messages used during route discovery. These extensions specify the service requirements, which must be met by nodes re-broadcasting a route request or returning a route reply for a destination. The … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2007 · 6,708 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnalysis of Hierarchical Diff-EDF Schedulability over Heterogeneous Real-Time Packet NetworksMoutaz Saleh, Zulaiha Ali OthmanPacket networks are currently enabling the integration of traffic with a wide range of characteristics that extend from video traffic with stringent QoS requirements to the best-effort traffic requiring no guarantees. QoS guarantees can be provided in conventional packet networks by the use of proper packet scheduling algorithms. As a computer revolution, many scheduling algorithms have been proposed to provide … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2007 · 6,530 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractStudy of Network on Chip resources allocation for QoS ManagementAbdelhamid HELALI, Adel SOUDANI, Jamila BHAR, Salem NASRIThe increasing complexity of integrated circuits and application requirements drive the research of new on-chip interconnection architectures. A network on chip draws on concepts inherited from distributed systems and computer networks subject areas to interconnect IP cores in a structured and scalable way. The main goal pursued is to achieve superior bandwidth when compared to conventional on-chip bus architectures. The … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2006 · 6,307 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Simulation-Based Comparison of Multimedia Traffic Prioritization Schemes for High-Performance Input-Queued Packet SwitchesSalman A. AlQahtaniThis study investigates the problem of enabling Quality of Service (QoS) of multimedia traffic at the input port of high-performance input-queued packet switches using a simulation-based evaluation. We focus on the possibility of assuring QoS of multimedia traffic in such switches by implementing traffic prioritization at the input port where each input-queue has been modified to provide a separate buffer … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2006 · 7,074 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHybrid Optimize Strategy based QoS Route Algorithm for Mobile Ad hoc NetworksFu Peng, Zhang DeyunIt is very difficult to find feasible QoS (Quality of service) routes in the mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), because of the nature constrains of it, such as dynamic network topology, wireless communication link and limited process capability of nodes. In order to reduce average cost in flooding path discovery scheme of the traditional MANETs routing protocols and increase the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2006 · 6,546 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOn Recipe Based Service Composition in Ubiquitous Smart SpacesJunaid A. Chowdary, Seung-Kyu Park, Suk-Kyo HongWe present a recipe based service composition scheme in smart spaces. We discuss real time problems of highly synchronized and user customizable processes with the help of an example. On-the-fly Quality of Service (QoS) shows up as a major issue in such environment. Furthermore the QoS of a dynamically composed service depends upon the aggregate QoS of its developing components. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2006 · 6,760 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Evaluation of a QoS-Aware Mechanism for Polling-Based High-Speed Network InterfacesSalman Al-Qahtani, Tarek Helmy, Khaled SalahThe explosive growth of the high-speed multimedia networks and the widespread use of web-based related applications place new demands on the network servers. The network end systems such as PC-Router, network server and host connected to high speed links must satisfy QoS requirements for multimedia traffics such as delay and loss ratio. Most works on operating systems support for high-speed … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2005 · 6,565 accessesView PDFCite
