Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSynchronization of Chaos Systems Using Fuzzy LogicMohammad Ababneh, Issa Etier, Mahmoud Smadi, Jasim GhaebProblem statement: This study presented a new and systematic method to robustly synchronize uncertain chaos systems. It was derived based on the observer approach for synchronization, where error dynamics was made asymptotically stable around the zero to accomplish synchronization. Approach: This method viewed the synchronization problem as a control problem in order to make use of the literature available in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 25 Feb 2011 · 7,642 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMonitoring Educational Organizations' Culture of Sustainable Consumption: Initiating and Evaluating Cultural Change in Schools and UniversitiesDaniel FischerProblem Statement: Patterns of consumption are considered as a main driver of unsustainable development. In the debate, education and educational organizations are unisonous considered as a key player to contribute to a more sustainable socialization of young consumers. Both schools and universities are challenged to become places and life-worlds in which sustainable consumption can be learned and experienced. The objective … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 18 Dec 2010 · 8,853 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEmpirical Validation of Daylight Simulation Tool with Physical Model MeasurementYaik-Wah Lim, Mohd. Hamdan Ahmad, Dilshan Remaz OssenProblem statement: In recent years, daylighting simulation tools have been increasingly used by many architects, engineers and researchers to evaluate the day lighting performances of building design. Most of these tools employ CIE sky models for simulation. However, the accuracy and applicability of these tools for tropical sky are doubtable. The aim of this study was to validate the computer … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2010 · 8,899 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImplementation and Evaluation of Evolutionary Connectionist Approaches to Automated Text SummarizationUday Kulkarni, Rajesh Shardanand PrasadProblem statement: Text summarization takes care of choosing the most significant portions of text and generates coherent summaries that express the main intent of the given document. This study aims to compare the performances of the three text summarization systems developed by the authors with some of the existing Summarization systems available. These three approaches to text summarization are based … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 11 · 23 Oct 2010 · 8,489 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEffect of Compression on the Acoustic Absorption of Coir FiberMohd Jailani Mohd Nor, Md. Ayub, Rozli Zulkifli et al.Problem statement: The absorption characteristics of coir fiber were analyzed previously. Analytical method to predict the acoustical behavior of coir fiber has already been developed. However, compression effects of coir fiber were not explored which might significant for acoustics absorption during seat padding. In this study, compression effect on the sound absorption characteristics of coir fiber are demonstrated based on … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2010 · 8,061 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractRehabilitation of a Human Arm Supported by a Robotic Manipulator: A Position/Force Cooperative ControlHaifa Mehdi, Olfa BoubakerProblem statement: The assistance of person with limited ability of arm movement is necessary for rehabilitation reasons. This aid is required not only to cover the human performances of the arm in motion and force but also to have a strictly stable dynamics. In this study, we proposed a cooperative system between a disabled arm and a robotic manipulator to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 7,456 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractControl of a Step Walking Combined to Arms Swinging for a Three Dimensional Humanoid PrototypeAmira Aloulou, Olfa BoubakerProblem statement: Present researches focus to make humanoid robots more and more autonomous so they can assist human in daily works like taking care of children, aged or disabled persons. In such social activities, the contemporary humanoid robots are expected to have human like morphology and gait. Studies on bipedal locomotion for humanoid robots are then part of the hottest … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 7,419 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Backward Recovery Mechanism in Preemptive Utility Accrual Real Time Scheduling AlgorithmIdawaty Ahmad, Muhammad Fauzan OthmanProblem statement: This study proposed a robust algorithm named as Backward Recovery Preemptive Utility Accrual Scheduling (BRPUAS) algorithm that implements the Backward Recovery (BR) mechanism as a fault recovery solution under the existing utility accrual scheduling environment. The problem identified in the TUF/UA scheduling domain is that the existing algorithms only considers the Abortion Recovery (AR) as their fault recovery … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2010 · 6,827 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHistory Based Contention Window Control in IEEE 802.11 MAC Protocol in Error Prone ChannelAli Balador, Ali Movaghar, Sam JabbehdariProblem statement: IEEE 802.11 Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is one of the most implemented protocols in this network. The IEEE 802.11 controls the access to the share wireless channel within competing stations. The IEEE 802.11 DCF doubles the Contention Window (CW) size for decreasing the collision within contending stations and to improve the network performances but it is not … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Jul 2010 · 7,662 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAuthentic Assessment and Pedagogical Strategies in Higher EducationChan Yuen Fook, Gurnam Kaur SidhuProblem statement: Researchers have noted that there is a mismatch between curriculum content and assessment practices in higher education. At the moment, the focus is still on the assessment of learning and not much on assessment for learning. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the implementation of authentic assessment in higher education in Malaysia. Approach: The study employed a … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2010 · 17,103 accessesView PDFCite
