In such applications low bit rate along with an acceptable image quality are an essential requirements. Approach: This study proposes low and moderate complexity algorithms for colour image compression. Two algorithms will be presented; … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 18 Jan 2012 · 8,501 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Cooperative Algorithm Based on PSO and K-Means for Data ClusteringMehdi Neshat, Shima Farshchian Yazdi, Daneyal Yazdani, Mehdi SargolzaeiProblem statement: Data clustering has been applied in multiple fields such as machine learning, data mining, wireless sensor networks and pattern recognition. One of the most famous clustering approaches is K-means which effectively has been used in many clustering problems, but this algorithm has some drawbacks such as local optimal convergence and sensitivity to initial points. Approach: Particle Swarm Optimization … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 19 Nov 2011 · 7,975 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Analysis of IEEE 802.16d using Forward Error CorrectionVenkatesh Sekar, V. Palanisamy, K. BaskaranProblem statement: Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is the broadband wireless technology for terrestrial broadcast services in Metropolitan Area Networks. This BWA technology is based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) technology and considers the radio frequency range up to 2-11 GHz and 10-66 GHz. The objective of this research work is the performance analysis of AWGN, SUI-1 and SUI-2 … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 9 Mar 2011 · 7,343 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCollaborative Caching Architecture for Continuous Query in Mobile DatabaseMohamed Ahmed Elfaki, Hamidah Ibrahim, Ali Mamat, Mohamed OthmanProblem statement: Cooperative caching, which allows sharing and coordination of cached data among clients, is a potential technique to improve the data access performance and availability in mobile ad hoc networks. However, variable data sizes, frequent data updates, limited client resources, insufficient wireless bandwidth and client’s mobility make cache management faces many challenges. Approach: In this study, we propose a … …American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 7 Jan 2011 · 8,882 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Analysis of Power Aware Congestion Control Multipath Multicast Protocol for Mobile Ad hoc NetworkDuraiswamy Karuppaswamy, Vijayaragavan ShanmugamProblem statement: In MANETs, wireless link transmission errors, mobility and congestion are major causes for packet loss. Mobility may cause packet loss in different ways. Whereas congestion in a network occurs, whenever the demands exceed the maximum capacity of a communication link especially when multiple hosts try to access a shared media simultaneously. Approach: In this study, we proposed a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 2 Nov 2010 · 7,044 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Efficient Causal Protocol with Forward Error Correction for Mobile Distributed SystemsEduardo Lopez Dominguez, Saul E. Pomares Hernandez, Gustavo Rodriguez Gomez et al.Problem statement: Causal ordering is used in Mobile Distributed Systems (MDS) to reduce the non-determinism induced by four main aspects: host mobility, asynchronous execution, unpredictable communication delays and unreliable communication channels. Some causal protocols have been proposed for MDS. All of these protocols in order to ensure the causal order in unreliable channels use the method of Automatic Repeat Request … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2010 · 8,241 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThroughput-Delay Trade-Off for Slotted Aloha Multiple Access with Capture EffectA. Chehri, P. Fortier, P. M. TardifProblem statement: Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols are one of most important research issues in communication and networking. There have been proposed several MAC protocols in wireless as well in wired networks. Approach: ALOHA-based protocol is the simplest one, being able to provide prompt access, reliable channels and support for quality of service. However its limited capacity, low throughput and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2009 · 6,922 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnt Colony Based Node Disjoint Hybrid Multi-path Routing for Mobile Ad Hoc NetworkB. Kalaavathi, K. DuraiswamyMobile Ad hoc Networks are characterized by multi-hop wireless links, without any infrastructure and frequent node mobility. A class of ant colony based routing protocols has recently gained attention because of their adaptability to the network changes. AntHocNet is ant colony based hybrid algorithm, which combines reactive path setup with proactive path probing, maintenance and improvement. Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordFL-CARE: Federated Learning-Based Contention-Aware and Energy-Balanced Routing for Dense FANETsHalimjon Khujamatov, Elyanora Jolimbetova et al.In dense multi-drone FANET environments, routing efficiency is often reduced due to constant competition for a wireless channel, frequent changes in network topology, and uneven energy consumption between UAV nodes. These factors lead to a decrease in the packet delivery ratio, an increase in delays on the busiest or most unstable routes, and a reduction in the total network lifespan. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 8 · 13 Aug 2026 · 1,181 accessesView PDFCite
