Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Innovative Technique of Texture Classification and Comparison Based on Long Linear PatternsV. Vijaya Kumar, B. Eswara Reddy, U. S.N. Raju, K. Chandra SekharanThe present paper proposes a method of texture classification based on long linear patterns. Linear patterns of long size are bright features defined by morphological properties: linearity, connectivity, width and by a specific Gaussian-like profile whose curvature varies smoothly along the crest line. The most significant information of a texture often appears in the occurrence of grain components. That’s why … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 8 · 28 Aug 2007 · 6,720 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOptical Character Recognition System for Arabic Text Using Cursive Multi-Directional ApproachMansoor Al-A'ali, Jamil AhmadThis paper presents a novel new technique based on feature extraction and on dynamic cursor sizing for the recognition of Arabic Text. The most challenging area in Arabic OCR (AOCR) research is the segmentation of words into their sub-words and their individual characters. Several rules are defined that govern the size and movement of the cursor through each segment. The … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2007 · 6,970 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractClassification of Squamous Cell Carcinoma Based On Color and Textural Features in Microscopic Images of Esophagus TissuesP. S. Hiremath, Y. Humnabad Iranna, Jagadeesh D. PujariThis paper presents a method for feature extraction using color and texture from microscopic images of esophagus tissues obtained from the abnormal regions of human esophagus detected through endoscopy. This method is used for classification of Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) of esophagus, namely, poorly differentiated SCC, moderately differentiated SCC, and well differentiated SCC. Three different color spaces, namely, HSV, YCbCr, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2007 · 6,874 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Dynamic Weight Assignment Approach for Index TermsKamel E. Haouam, Farhi MarirCurrently in the development of Informational Retrieval (IR) systems, a set of keywords represents the semantics of a text document and after assigning weights to the set of keywords, they are used for indexing, searching and retrieval purposes. The current approaches for assigning weights are provided by an IR model that is used by an IR system. The main objective … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2006 · 6,943 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Feasibility Study of Challenges and Opportunities in Computational Biology: A Malaysian PerspectiveR. J.A. Richard, N. SriraamThe term computational biology refers to the knowledge derived from a computer analysis of biological data that includes identification of genes in DNA sequence of different organisms, prediction of structural and functional mechanism of proteins, feature extraction and classification of genomics and proteomics. Computational biology is a rapidly developing branch of science and is highly interdisciplinary, using techniques and Concepts … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,924 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Multimodal Biometric System using Global Features for Identical Twins IdentificationBayan Omar Mohammed, Siti Mariyam ShamsuddinPattern recognition studies are currently focusing on twin’s biometric identification. The system of twins’ biometric Identification can potentially differentiate the individual’s biometric pattern. With the new Unimodal biometric identification, identical twins are precisely and reliably identified, with well exposure of certain traits. However, it is much more challenging to identify identical twins as they share so many similarities between them, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 1 · 18 Jan 2018 · 8,014 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordRandom Forest Based Feature Selection of Macroeconomic Variables for Stock Market PredictionIsaac Kofi Nti, Adebayo Felix Adekoya, Benjamin Asubam WeyoriA firm’s equity price on the stock-market is reported to be closely related to the Macroeconomic Variable (MVs) of the country in which the firm trades. For this reason, researchers, market traders, financial analysts and forecasters to examine the association between MVs and stock-price have carried out numerous studies, using time-series statistical analysis methods like Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 16, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2019 · 10,234 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordFeatures Extraction Based on Linear Regression TechniqueKhalid W. MagldProblem statement: The matching problem of complex objects is one of the most difficult task in the pattern recognition field. These problems are made difficult by seemingly infinite varieties of shapes and classes which are used. The difficulties are related to absolute shape measurement, given the impossibility of directly mapping shapes, as such, into a feature space. Approach: In this … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 25 Feb 2012 · 7,050 accessesView PDF Cite
