Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Prevalence of Running Away from Home among Prostituted Children in MalaysiaZ. M. LukmanProblem statement: One of the significant groups of young women in prostitution is the runaways, children under 18 years of age who leave home without the permission of their parents or legal guardians. In this case, runaways also include ‘throwaways’, young people who are forced to leave home or who are not actively sought after when they do leave home. … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2009 · 7,829 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSlantlet Transform for Multispectral Image FusionAdnan Hadi M. Al-Helali, Hamza A. Ali, Buthainah Al-Dulaimi et al.Problem statement: Image fusion is a process by which multispectral and panchromatic images, or some of their features, are combined together to form a high spatial/high spectral resolutions image. The successful fusion of images acquired from different modalities or instruments is a great importance issue in remote sensing applications. Approach: A new method of image fusion was introduced. It was … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2009 · 7,724 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractComputer Model For Sieves' Vibrations Analysis, Using an Algorithm Based on the False-Position MethodDinu I. Stoicovici, Miorita Ungureanu, Nicu Ungureanu, Mihai BanicaThe analysis of the sieves vibrations in the case of screening civil engineering construction bulk materials is usual made by using some differential equations depending on parameters related to different material and sieves characteristics. One of those parameters is the throwing coefficient -c- that is the ratio between the force capable to throw up the particle from the sieve surface, … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2009 · 7,780 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Stochastic Knapsack Problem with Continuous Random CapacitySuwitchporn Witchakul, Prapaisri Sudas Na Ayudhaya, Peerayuth CharnsethikulProblem Statement: The problem of allocating a set of items in order to maximize the toal linear profit under uncertain capacity referred as a stochastic knapsack problem with continuous random capacity was studied theoretically and computationally. Approach: Two optimization based heuristic algorithms were proposed and developed for solving the problem and both efficiency and effectiveness are compared with the general … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2008 · 6,946 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractWeb-based Projects Evaluation Management SystemS. Al-Zoubi, Z. M. Alfawaer, M. Al-ZoubiThis project designs a Web-based evaluation management system for the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Problem statement: The Msc students in College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) in applied sciences had to take their final project as a project paper in order to fulfill the requirements of their programs and be able to graduate. The final project was evaluated … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 6,775 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEnvironmental Impact Assessment for Potential Continuous Processes for the Production of Carbon NanotubesAditi Singh, Helen H. Lou, Ralph W. Pike et al.As an emerging discipline, nanotechnology has the potential to improve environmental sustainability through its application in pollution prevention, treatment, remediation, etc. One challenging issue in the growth of nanotechnology is how to produce purified carbon nanotubes (CNT) in commercial quantities at affordable price and with low environmental impacts. A detailed assessment of such a manufacturing process from both economic and … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 5 · 31 Oct 2008 · 7,600 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Password-Based Key Derivation Algorithm Using the KBRP MethodShakir M. Hussain, Hussein Al-BahadiliThis study presents a new efficient password-based strong key derivation algorithm using the key based random permutation the KBRP method. The algorithm consists of five steps, the first three steps are similar to those formed the KBRP method. The last two steps are added to derive a key and to ensure that the derived key has all the characteristics of … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 6,886 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractNeural-Based Models of Semiconductor Devices for SPICE SimulatorHanene Ben Hammouda, Mongia Mhiri, Zièd Gafsi, Kamel BesbesThe paper addresses a simple and fast new approach to implement Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) models for the MOS transistor into SPICE. The proposed approach involves two steps, the modeling phase of the device by NN providing its input/output patterns, and the SPICE implementation process of the resulting model. Using the Taylor series expansion, a neural based small-signal model is … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2008 · 8,577 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMiniature-Autopilot Evaluation SystemKamal Ali, Lamarious CarterThis research describes a Hardware in the Loop Simulator (HILS) that was developed to enhance the quality of attitude data received from autopilots. The described system aided in adjusting the contribution of individual IMU sensors and thereby improved the accuracy of IMU data. The HILS system outlined in this research is a gimbaled platform equipped with four stepper motors and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2008 · 6,945 accessesView PDFCite
