Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImproving Routing Discovery Based Velocity-Aware Probabilistic Using AODV with Link Prediction in Mobile Ad-hoc NetworksZaid BassfarThe current process associated with enhancing the QoS in routing for MANETs has reserved a high importance due to the limitation of available route discovery in dynamic topology. The conventional methods of route discovery schemes in MANETs are commonly designed in order to estimate the number of nodes in routes using the standard probabilistic models. Such models are utilized by … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 14, Issue 8 · 1 Aug 2017 · 7,655 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractENERGY EFFICIENT AND INTERFERENCE AWARE PROVISIONING IN VIRTUALIZED SERVER CLUSTER ENVIRONMENTMohan Raj Velayudhan Kumar, Shriram RaghunathanIT service providers, employ server virtualization as a main building block to improve system utilization, improve system manageability, reduce operational costs which includes energy consumption driving economies of scale with shared resources. Virtualization enables co-locating and efficient assignments of virtual servers within the bounds of limited number of heterogeneous physical servers, with Virtual Machines (VM) sharing the limited physical server … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 1 · 12 Nov 2013 · 6,692 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractTHROUGHPUT ANALYSIS OF AGGREGATION WITH FRAGMENT RETRANSMISSION PLUS QUALITY OF SERVICE SCHEMETeuku Yuliar Arif, Riri Fitri SariAggregation with Fragment Retransmission (AFR) is a scheme designed for frame transmission to increase efficiency at the MAC layer throughput. AFR provides a higher throughput compare to Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) scheme. However AFR scheme did not has QoS service function when compared to DCF scheme. DCF scheme already has contention-based QoS service using Enhanced Distributed Coordination Function (EDCA) scheme. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 5 Sep 2013 · 7,319 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractNEW BURST ASSEMBLY AND SCHEDULING TECHNIQUE FOR OPTICAL BURST SWITCHING NETWORKSV. Kavitha, V. PalanisamyThe Optical Burst Switching is a new switching technology that efficiently utilizes the bandwidth in the optical layer. The key areas to be concentrated in Optical Burst Switching (OBS) networks are the burst assembly and burst scheduling i.e., assignment of wavelengths to the incoming bursts. This study presents a New Burst Assembly and Scheduling (NBAS) technique in a simultaneous multipath … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 6 Jul 2013 · 6,944 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHistory Based Probabilistic Backoff AlgorithmNarendran Rajagopalan, C. MalaPerformance of Wireless LAN can be improved at each layer of the protocol stack with respect to energy efficiency. The Media Access Control layer is responsible for the key functions like access control and flow control. During contention, Backoff algorithm is used to gain access to the medium with minimum probability of collision. After studying different variations of back off … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 29 Aug 2012 · 7,662 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Comparison of the Bayesian and Other Methods for Estimation of Reliability Function for Burr-XII DistributionSafaa Ali Nasir, Nashaat Jaisam Al-AnberProblem statement: The Burr-XII distribution has been widely used especially in the modeling of life time event data. It provides a statistical model which has a wide variety of application in many areas and the main advantage is its ability in the context of life time event among other distributions. The conventional maximum likelihood method is the usual way to … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 27 Dec 2011 · 7,852 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBalanced Scheduling of Independent File-Sharing Tasks in Heterogenous EnvironmentR. K. Ponsy, Sathia Bhama, S. Thamarai SelviProblem statement: To examine the strategies for scheduling of independent file-sharing tasks in a heterogeneous environment and the concept of load balancing. Approach: We propose hypergraph partitioning based strategy for the scheduling of non-critical jobs. This is done by scheduling the tasks that share tasks among them to the same processor. The tasks thus scheduled are employed to a load … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 17 Oct 2011 · 6,776 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractComparison of the Bayesian and Maximum Likelihood Estimation for Weibull DistributionAl Omari Mohammed Ahmed, Hadeel Salim Al-Kutubi, Noor Akma IbrahimProblem statement: The Weibull distribution has been widely used especially in the modeling of lifetime event data. It provides a statistical model which has a wide variety of applications in many areas, and the main advantage is its ability in the context of lifetime event, to provide reasonably accurate failure analysis and failure forecasts especially with extremely small samples. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractReducing Broadcast Overhead Using Clustering Based Broadcast Mechanism in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworkN. Karthikeyan, V. Palanisamy, K. DuraiswamyProblem statement: Network wide broadcasting is an important function in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), which attempts to deliver packets from a source node to all other nodes in the network. Broadcasting is often very useful for route discovery, naming, addressing and helping multicast operations in all kinds of networks. For designing broadcast protocols for ad hoc networks, one of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,031 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEnhancing Wireless Medium Access Control Layer Misbehavior Detection System in IEEE 802.11 NetworkA. M. Alsahag, M. OthmanWireless Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols such as IEEE 802.11 use distributed contention resolution mechanisms for sharing the wireless channel. In this environment, selfish hosts that fail to adhere to the MAC protocol may obtain an unfair throughput share. For example, IEEE 802.11 requires hosts competing for access to the channel to wait for a "back-off" interval, randomly selected from … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 6,963 accessesView PDFCite
