Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Study of Mathematics Web-Based Learning in SchoolsMansoor Al-A’aliTeaching Mathematics to intermediate school boys is a challenging process which can greatly benefit from software technology and web-based learning. In this research we study the difficulties and opportunities of using this technology in teaching Mathematics to 13 year old boys studying Mathematics at school. For students' we identify the basic requirements at home, e.g., Mathematics computer software packages, availability … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,266 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsMemory TracingEva Cogan, Chaya GurwitzProblem statement: Students completing introductory computing courses did not know how to program at the expected level. Seeking the underlying problem, we came to believe that students were focusing only on results and not connecting with the inner workings of their code. This left them poorly prepared to master increasingly complex problems. Approach: We hoped that by promoting memory tracing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,162 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsGRAPHSJ 3: A MODERN DIDACTIC APPLICATION FOR GRAPH ALGORITHMSGianluca Costa, Claudia D’Ambrosio, Silvano MartelloIn 2009 the authors developed an open source Java application and framework, GraphsJ, to help the students in their approach to the study of graph algorithms, by guiding them to understand their logical structures through experiments on numerical instances. After four years, the availability of Java 7 and of new tools suggested the implementation of a new major release. We … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 7 · 10 Feb 2014 · 7,857 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Free Educational Java Framework for Graph AlgorithmsGianluca Costa, Claudia D’Ambrosio, Silvano MartelloProblem statement: In the teaching of graph theory algorithms it is important that students can experiment them on numerical instances in order to fully understand their logical meaning and to learn how they can be implemented. Approach: We developed an open source Java framework to help students in their approach to the study of graph algorithms. The framework was implemented … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,397 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractReciprocity Effect between Cognitive Style and Mixed Learning Method on Computer Programming SkillAnthony Anggrawan, Christofer Satria, Mayadi, Ni Gusti Ayu DasrianiMany universities undertake mixed learning to meet the required needs. Mixed learning is a blend of F2F classroom education and online learning education. The strength of mixed learning is that it supports student cognitive styles more than non-mixed learning. The right mix of mixed learning provides more constructive and conducive learning. Meanwhile, the programming language is the primary skill that … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2021 · 6,205 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractConceptual Modeling for Computer Organization and ArchitectureSabah Al-FedaghiUnderstanding computer system hardware, including how computers operate, is essential for undergraduate students in computer engineering and science. Literature shows students learning computer organization and assembly language often find fundamental concepts difficult to comprehend within the topic materials. Tools have been introduced to improve students’ comprehension of the interaction between computer architecture, assembly language and the operating system. One such … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 2 · 22 Feb 2021 · 8,913 accessesView PDFCite
