Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Appearance based Method for Eye Gaze TrackingS. V. Sheela, P. A. VijayaProblem statement: Gaze estimation systems compute the direction of eye gaze based on observed eye movements. The need for gaze-contingent applications is the basis of the current research work. The gaze pointing systems is a substitute for the existing input devices. Approach: The gaze tracking methods are either feature based or appearance based. In this study, an appearance based approach … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 15 Jul 2011 · 6,580 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPAPR Reduction Using BPSO/PTS and STBC in MIMO OFDM SystemKarima El Mouhib, Ahmed Oquour, Younes Jabrane et al.Problem statement: The Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system has been receiving a great attention, as one of solutions for achieving high speed, efficient and high-quality service for the wireless communications. However, the transmitted signal still has high PAPR because of OFDM characteristics. Many methods have been proposed to solve this problem, but the most … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 7,189 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThai Speech Coding Based On Conjugate-Structure Algebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction AlgorithmSuphattharachai ChomphanProblem statement: In mobile communication, speech coding aims at compressing the speech with lowest bitrate and highest quality for standard languages such as English, German and French. As for other languages with different uttering styles, the encoded speech quality is not guaranteed at the same bitrate. The appropriate evaluation should be performed to develop the speech quality by applying some … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 14 Jan 2011 · 7,352 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Efficient Low Complexity Lossless Coding Algorithm for Medical ImagesS. E. Ghrare, M.A. Mohd. Ali, K. Jumari, M. IsmailProblem statement: Nowadays a large number of various medical images are generated from hospitals and medical centers with sophisticated image acquisition devices, the movement toward digital images in radiology presents the problem of how to conveniently and economically store, retrieve and transmit the volume of digital images. Thus digital image data compression is necessary in order to solve this problem. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,091 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Meaning of a Redundant Codon: There is Protein Folding Information in Nucleic Acids in Addition to the Genetic CodeJan C. Biro, Josephine M.K. BiroAll the information necessary for protein folding is supposed to be present in the amino acid sequence. It is still not possible to provide specific ab initio structure predictions by bioinformatical methods. It is suspected that additional folding information is present in protein coding nucleic acid sequences, which is not represented by the known genetic code. Nucleic acid subsequences comprising … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2006 · 8,292 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDigital Video Watermarking in the Discrete Cosine Transform DomainSadik Ali M. Al-Taweel, Putra Sumari, Saleh Ali K. Alomari, Anas J.A. HusainProblem statement: Nowadays, digital watermarks have recently become recognized as a solution for protecting copyright of the digital multimedia. For a watermark to be useful, it must be perceptually invisible and robust against any possible attack and image processing by those who seek to corsair the material, researchers have considered various approaches like JPEG compression, geometric distortions and noising. Approach: … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,246 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImproved Statistical Speech Segmentation Using Connectionist ApproachM. S. Salam, Dzulkifli Mohamad, S. H. SallehProblem statement: Speech segmentation is an important part for speech recognition, synthesizing and coding. Statistical based approach detects segmentation points via computing spectral distortion of the signal without prior knowledge of the acoustic information proved to be able to give good match, less omission but lot of insertion. These insertion points dropped segmentation accuracy. Approach: This study proposed a fusion … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2009 · 7,680 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Comparative Study of Construction Techniques of t-Error Correction/All Unidirectional Error Detection CodesThabit Sultan Mohammed, Laith A. Al-JobouriThe theory and application of (t-EC-AUED) codes was presented and among the methods proposed in literature, the most efficient was chosen and a software was written for encoding and decoding of the codes. Comparison and evaluation of the construction techniques were carried out. A t-Error Correction (EC)/All Unidirectional Error Detection (AUED) codes are constructed by appending a single check symbol … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 2 · 28 Jan 2015 · 6,572 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA New Approach in Cryptographic Systems Using Fractal Image CodingNadia M.G. Al-Saidi, Muhammad Rushdan Md. SaidProblem statement: With the rapid development in the communications and information transmissions there is a growing demand for new approaches that increase the security of cryptographic systems. Approach: Therefore some emerging theories, such as fractals, can be adopted to provide a contribution toward this goal.
