Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Fuzzy Logic Based Power Control for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access Wireless NetworksN. Mohan, T. RavichandranProblem statement: Resource management is one of the most important engineering issues in 3G systems where multiple traffic classes are supported each being characterized by its required Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. Call Admission Control (CAC) is one of the resource management functions, which regulates network access to ensure QoS provisioning. Efficient CAC is necessary for the QoS provisioning in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 4 Aug 2012 · 6,755 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleLoss Discrimination Algorithm for Wired/Wireless NetworksLiw Jia Seng, Mohd Noor Derahman, Azizol AbdullahProblem statement: Wireless technology has far growing with an increasing demand of the Wireless networking technologies recent years. The wireless access network and cellular networks are being used to support their need. It is usually connected to a wired backbone network. TCP is used to handle the congestion in wired network. However, it is not well suited for hybrid network … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 17 Oct 2011 · 7,498 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleExperimental Evaluation of Medium Access Schemes in 802.11 Wireless NetworksG. Singh, B. S. SohiProblem statement: Deployment of real time services over 802.11 wireless networks requires quality of service (QoS) differentiation mechanisms for different traffic types. This required investigations into the performance of the Medium access (MAC) schemes like Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF) and Enhanced DCF with respect to the stringent QoS requirements imposed by the real time services. Motivation for this research was … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,136 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleTopology Discovering and Power saving Mechanism for Routing in a Tree of Ad-hoc Wireless NetworksArwa ZabianPower management in mobile network is an open challenges where the power level in the network influences the network life time. However, there are a trade off between the power consumption and the connectivity in mobile networks. We present a topology control mechanism and a routing protocol for Ad-Hoc wireless networks that chooses the shortest path given the lower power … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2007 · 6,550 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAd Hoc Mobile Wireless Networks Routing Protocols - A ReviewGeetha Jayakumar, G. GopinathMobile ad hoc networks(MANET) represent complex distributed systems that comprise wireless mobile nodes that can freely and dynamically self organize into arbitrary and temporary ad-hoc network topologies, allowing people and devices to seamlessly internet work in areas with no preexisting communication infrastructure e.g., disaster recovery environments. An ad-hoc network is not a new one, having been around in various forms … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2007 · 115,241 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Variable Neighborhood Search Algorithm for Assigning Cells to Switches in Wireless NetworksMatthieu Andr, Gilles Pesant, Samuel PierreThe problem of assigning cells to switches in wireless networks consists of minimizing the total operating cost, that is, the cost of linking cells to switches and the cost of handover from one cell to another, by taking into account factors such as network topology, switch capacity and traffic load in the entire network. Such a problem is well known … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2005 · 6,748 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Fast-and-Fair Collision Resolution Protocol Tailored for Ad Hoc Wireless NetworksMarcos F. Caetano, Lucas M. Guimaraes, Jacir L. BordimWireless technologies have permeated a significant number of devices over the years. On the other hand, Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols strive to deal with an increasing number of contending nodes on crowded frequency bands. This work presents an efficient medium access control resolution protocol. The proposed protocol, termed Collision Resolution Protocol (CRP), uses pulse/tone signaling that works in both … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 12, Issue 8 · 1 Nov 2016 · 7,140 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleMobility and Handover Technique in Heterogeneous Wireless NetworksRadhwan Abdullah, Zuriati Zukarnain, Farzaneh Masoumiyan, Azizol AbdullahThe management techniques for Mobile IPv6 between different wireless technologies are very important to complete the handover process with the least possible delay. In the fast handover, when a mobile node moves to another network, it needs to do handover operations. These operations have a severe impact on the handover latency. This paper proposes an Enhanced Advanced Duplicate Address Detection … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2015 · 6,752 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAnalytic Performability Model of Vertical Handoff in Wireless NetworksGowrishankar, G. N. Sekhar, P. S. SatyanarayanaProblem statement: The next generation wireless systems should be designed to support heterogeneous traffic with seamless mobility. A single network alone cannot cope up with such heterogeneous requirements. Hence it is desirable to interoperate between diverse and complementary Radio Access Technologies (RATs). In such system, user will switch between different Radio Access Technologies (RATs) to satisfy the User/application requirement and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2009 · 7,230 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titlePerformance Evaluation of Implementing Calls Prioritization with Different Queuing Disciplines in Mobile Wireless NetworksSalman A. AlQahtani, Nasser-Eddine RikliIt is known that efficient call handling mechanisms can greatly improve cellular network performance. One way to improve system performance of cellular network is to use efficient handover schemes when users changes between cells. This paper focuses on the performance evaluation of originating and handover calls prioritization using different queue size and discipline. Both calls will be queued until they … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 6,470 accessesView PDFCite
