Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImproving an Electrostatic Powder Coating Process via Signal to Noise Response SurfacePongchanun LuangpaiboonProblem statement: In a coating process, the master plate referenced brightness or color shade was critical to the exterior appearance on aluminum alloy wheels. The quality measures of interest are the metallic paint thickness values on four areas. Because of these lower quality levels, the manufacturer has spent more on the cost of restudy or scrap as well as the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 11 · 8 Nov 2010 · 7,476 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCalculation of Total Cost, Tolerance Based on Taguchi's, Asymmetric Quality Loss Function ApproachR. Sampath Kumar, N. Alagumurthi, R. RameshProblem statement: Current world market force the manufacturing sectors to develop high quality product and process design with minimum possible cost. About 80% of problems in production units may be attributed to 20% of design tolerance causes. While design typically represents the smallest actual cost elements in products (around 5%), it leverages the largest cost influence (around 70%). So design … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2009 · 8,045 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordVariable Neighborhood Simplex Search Methods for Global Optimization ModelsPongchanun LuangpaiboonProblem statement: Many optimization problems of practical interest are encountered in various fields of chemical, engineering and management sciences. They are computationally intractable. Therefore, a practical algorithm for solving such problems is to employ approximation algorithms that can find nearly optimums within a reasonable amount of computational time. Approach: In this study the hybrid methods combining the Variable Neighborhood Search … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 15 Feb 2012 · 6,510 accessesView PDF Cite
