Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Model for Congestion Control of Transmission Control Protocol in Mobile Wireless Ad Hoc NetworksAdib M. Monzer Habbal, Suhaidi HassanTransmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a fundamental protocol in the TCP/IP Protocol Suite.TCP was well designed and optimized to work over wired networks where most packet loss occurs due to network congestion. In theory, TCP should not care whether it is running over wired networks, WLANs, or Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). In practice, it does matter because most TCP … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 3 · 24 Apr 2013 · 7,373 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Forager Bee's Intelligence Inspired Dynamic Queue Scheduling for the Internet TrafficY. Suresh, S. Arumugam, M. A. BhagyaveniProblem statement: In the present evolution of large scale internet communication, per flow control scheme faces scalability issue due to tremendous number of flows. The aggregation based approaches such as differentiated architecture relieve the storage of state of flows in core router. TCP is the dominating protocol that carries majority of the total internet traffic. Recent internet traffic measurement shows … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 22 Feb 2012 · 7,011 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAn Interaction between Congestion-Control Based Transport Protocols and Manet Routing ProtocolsKhuzairi Mohd Zaini, Adib M. Monzer Habbal, Fazli Azzali et al.Problem statement: Although many efforts have been done on studying the behaviour of TCP in MANET, but the behaviour of TFRC remain unclear in MANET. The purpose of this research is two folds. First, we studied the behaviour of TFRC and TCP over AODV and DSR as the underlying routing protocols in terms of throughput, delay and jitter. The second … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 28 Jan 2012 · 7,155 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsCongestion Control in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks by Enhancement of Transmission Control ProtocolN. Premalatha, A. M. NatarajanProblem statement: Transmission Control Protocol is the Internet’s most widely used transport control protocol. TCP’s strength lies in the adaptive nature of its congestion avoidance and control algorithm and its retransmission mechanism. In TCP Vegas rerouting (a path), which change the propagation delay of the connection and this may be able to result in a substantial decrease in through put. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 17 Oct 2011 · 6,688 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsLoss Discrimination Algorithm for Wired/Wireless NetworksLiw Jia Seng, Mohd Noor Derahman, Azizol AbdullahProblem statement: Wireless technology has far growing with an increasing demand of the Wireless networking technologies recent years. The wireless access network and cellular networks are being used to support their need. It is usually connected to a wired backbone network. TCP is used to handle the congestion in wired network. However, it is not well suited for hybrid network … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 17 Oct 2011 · 7,498 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAn Effective Queue Management Scheme for Data CommunicationSheela Thavasi, Nityanandam NatarajanProblem statement: The growth in the needs of Internet applications that transmit massive amount of data has led to the emergence of Effective Queue Management. Approach: Queues were used to smooth spikes in incoming packet rates and to allow the router sufficient time for packet processing. When the waiting time is less a better queue management is ensured thereby resulting … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 7 Mar 2011 · 7,758 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsExperimental Evaluation of Bottleneck Link Utilization with New-Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease Congestion Avoidance and Control AlgorithmHayder Natiq Jasem, Zuriati Ahmad Zukarnain, Mohamed Othman, Shamala SubramaniamProblem statement: As the Internet becomes increasingly heterogeneous, the issue of congestion control becomes ever more important. And the link utilization is one of the important things in term of congestion avoidance and control mechanisms. And we can define the utilization as simply the throughput divided by the access rate. And also all the developments for the congestion control and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 7,133 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsComparison Study of Transmission Control Protocol and User Datagram Protocol Behavior over Multi-Protocol Label Switching Networks in Case of FailuresTaha Ahmed Al-Radaei, Zuriati Ahmad ZukarnainProblem statement: In only a few years, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) has evolved from an exotic technology to a mainstream tool used by service providers to create revenue-generating services. MPLS provides a high reliable Label Switched Path (LSP). MPLS failures may degrade the reliability of the MPLS networks. Approach: For that reason, many studies have been conducted to keep the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 6,949 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsExperimental Evaluation of Medium Access Schemes in 802.11 Wireless NetworksG. Singh, B. S. SohiProblem statement: Deployment of real time services over 802.11 wireless networks requires quality of service (QoS) differentiation mechanisms for different traffic types. This required investigations into the performance of the Medium access (MAC) schemes like Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF) and Enhanced DCF with respect to the stringent QoS requirements imposed by the real time services. Motivation for this research was … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,136 accessesView PDFCite
