Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleImproving the Performance of the Peer to Peer Network by Introducing an Assortment of MethodsM. Sadish Sendil, N. NagarajanProblem Statement: Peer to Peer (P2P) systems have grown dramatically in recent years. The most popular type of P2P systems are file sharing networks, which are used to share various types of content over the Internet. Due to the increase in popularity of P2P systems, the network performance of these systems has become a very important issue in the design … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 16 Dec 2010 · 7,298 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSelective Flooding Based on Relevant Nearest-Neighbor using Query Feedback and Similarity across Unstructured Peer-to-Peer NetworksIskandar Ishak, Naomie SalimProblem statement: Efficient searching is a fundamental problem for unstructured peer to peer networks. Flooding requires a lot of resources in the network and thus will increase the search cost. Searching approach that utilizes minimum network resources is required to produce efficient searching in the robust and dynamic peer-to-peer network. Approach: This study addressed the need for efficient flood-based searching … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,696 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAdoption of Peer-To-Peer Assessment in a Computing Skills CourseMansoor Al-A'aliThe process of peer-to-peer assessment brings great benefits to the teaching and learning process. This paper presents a peer assessment model which was applied to students enrolled in a generic computing skills course. In order to measure the effectiveness of this proposed model, students had to evaluate their colleagues based on predefined criteria and a comparison is presented between the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2007 · 6,397 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEOS: Evolutionary Overlay Service in Peer-to-Peer SystemsL. I. Zhijun, Liao MinghongThe peer-to-peer (P2P) systems nowadays can be mainly classified into two categories: structured and structure-less systems based on their overlay organization. The structured systems can achieve determinate efficiency due to their rigorous structure with the cost of losing robustness and vice versa. We provide a semi-structured overlay based on the separation of routing structures and overlay organizations in this paper … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2005 · 6,349 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMusic Information Retrieval Schemes in Peer-to-Peer EnvironmentsChaokun Wang, Jianzhong Li, Shengfei ShiPeer-to-peer systems are useful tools for music applications. Existing peer-to-peer systems support the storing and sharing of music data, however they cannot effectively and efficiently support the content-based information retrieval and the cooperation of musicians. This study focuses on the methods of content-based music information retrieval in peer-to-peer environments. Four music information retrieval schemes are evaluated in detail on communication … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,551 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHIERARCHICAL ACCESS CONTROL IN DYNAMIC PEER GROUPS USING SYMMETRIC POLYNOMIAL AND TREE BASED GROUP ELLIPTIC CURVE DIFFIE HELLMAN SCHEMEKumar Krishnan, Sumathy Vembu, Nafeesa Begum JeddyHierarchical Access Control in group communication is an active area of research which is difficult to achieve it. Its primary objective is to allow users of a higher authority group to access information or resource held by lower group users and preventing the lower group users to access information held by higher class users. Large collection of collaborative applications in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 9 · 15 Apr 2014 · 6,999 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAn Efficient Resource Provisioning Technique in Inter-Cloud using Peer-to-Peer ApproachManbir Kaur, Kiranbir Kaur, Lohit KapoorResource discovery is the process of computing systems; it supports resource management and scheduling of applications. It searches for the apposite variety of resource that satisfies the user's requirements. Resource discovery in computing system is perplexing because of conventional centralized approaches and resilient availability of resources. This scenario becomes more complex in inter-clouds owing to the dynamism and heterogeneity of … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 24 May 2017 · 7,455 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA MULTI ATTRIBUTE RANKING MECHANISM FOR PEER-TO-PEER NETWORKSSheila Anand, B. SwaminathanP2P systems are envisioned to play a greater role in collaborative applications. P2P environments remove the challenging task of using servers for information sharing. Emerging collaborative P2P systems require discovery and utilization of multi-attribute, distributed and dynamic group of resources to achieve greater tasks beyond conventional file and processor cycle sharing. The process of selection of a peer for collaborative … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 8 · 24 Feb 2014 · 6,879 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleUSING MOBILE AGENTS FOR LOAD BALANCING IN PEER-TO-PEER SYSTEMS HOSTING VIRTUAL SERVERSVijayaKumar G. Dhas, S. Saibharath, V. Rhymend UthariarajThis study proposes a novel load-balancing algorithm for managing virtual servers in a Peer-To-Peer (P2P) system through mobile agents. The proposed algorithm is implemented in a fully decentralized manner for a structured P2P system. It uses mobile agents and is independent of the geometry of the P2P auxiliary networks. The load-balancing algorithm effectively reduces the load imbalance of the system … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 6 · 27 Jan 2014 · 6,353 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Grade-Based Incentive Mechanism for Peer-to-Peer NetworksS. Moses Dian, B. RamadossFree-riding is a desperate and a constant menace to many P2P systems, to violate the cooperation among peers. This study proposes a grade-based approach, which expeditiously maintains fairness in the network by encouraging the high contributed peers and altogether wiping out the free-riders. The Network Contribution Ratio determines the contribution of users globally. Besides, the proposed grading algorithm uses a … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 3 Sep 2012 · 7,489 accessesView PDFCite
