Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Great Deluge Algorithm with Bi-Decay Rate for Efficient Task Scheduling in Grid ComputingKaiLun Eng, Abdullah Muhammed, Sazlinah Hasan, Mohamad Afendee MohamedTo realise the utmost idea of global collaborative resource sharing with Grid computing, the fundamental scheduling process is playing a critical role. However, scheduling in Grid computing environment is a well-known NP-complete problem. In this study, we propose a new extension of Great Deluge algorithm with an effective diversification strategy for the Grid scheduling problem. The proposed approach, namely BiGD, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 3 · 7 Mar 2019 · 7,720 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleTask Scheduling in Real Time Systems with Energy Harvesting and Energy MinimizationArvind Kumar, Bashir AlamEnergy is a major concern in battery operated real time devices (e.g. sensor nodes situated in remote areas) as battery life is solely responsible for the functioning of such devices. For such systems to work continuously and successively a regular source of energy is required. The lifetime of such systems can be increased by reducing the energy consumption and increasing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 8 · 15 Aug 2018 · 8,287 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleScheduling Strategies in Cloud Computing: Methods and ImplementationsAida Abou-Elseoud Nasr, Sheren Ahmed ElboozA Cloud computing allows to users to get computing resources and services over the internet in the form of an on-demand service using virtualization technology. While cloud resources are built in different locations so they need new strategies to manage the running of them. These strategies may contain more than one algorithm. In cloud computing system, scheduling system is the … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 2 · 4 Apr 2018 · 8,795 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleComparative Study of Packet Scheduling Algorithm in LTE NetworkAlaa Omer Najim, Nor Asilah Wati Abdul Hamid, Zurina Mohd Hanapi, Idawaty AhmadAt present, Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is the most popular Internet access technology because of its robust wireless connectivity that can support data, voice, video and messaging traffic. This advantage has significantly increased the number of users availing themselves of these services through various devices. Such an increase in the number of users has also increased network traffic. Thus, scheduling algorithms … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 12 · 20 Dec 2017 · 7,822 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleScheduling Jobs through Gap Filling and Optimization Techniques in Computational GridOmar Dakkak, Shahrudin Awang Nor, Suki ArifDue to the heterogeneity and complexity in grid computing, classical algorithms may not be able to deal with dynamic jobs properly. In the dynamic mode, incoming jobs reach the scheduler arbitrary. Therefore, scheduling the jobs using simple policy alone deteriorates the performance of the scheduler. Thus, a policy that can handle the dynamicity efficiently is indispensable. This paper presents the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 5 · 17 May 2017 · 7,418 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleLPSO: Another Algorithm for Workflow Scheduling in the CloudToan Phan Thanh, Loc Nguyen The, Said Elnaffar, Cuong Nguyen DoanAlthough workflow scheduling problem has been discussed by many researchers, a few efficient solutions have been introduced for Cloud computing. In this article, we present LPSO, a novel algorithm for workflow scheduling. Based on the Particle Swarm Optimization method, our proposed algorithm not only ensures the fast convergence but also avoid being trapped on local extrema. Our simulation experiments using … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 12, Issue 12 · 12 Feb 2017 · 6,800 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEnhanced Preemptive Global Utility Accrual Real Time Scheduling Algorithms in Multicore EnvironmentIdawaty Ahmad, Mohamed Othman, Zuriati Ahmad ZulkarnainThis paper proposed an efficient real time scheduling algorithm using global scheduling paradigm running in multicore environment known as Global Preemptive Utility Accrual Scheduling (GPUAS) algorithm. The existing TUF/UA multiprocessor scheduling algorithms known as Greedy-Global Utility Accrual (G-GUA) and Non Greedy-Global Utility Accrual (NG-GUA) algorithms is seen to overlook the efficiency on its task scheduling algorithm. These algorithms have adapted … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 12 · 11 Feb 2016 · 6,390 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSecondary User Sensing Time Optimization in Sensing-Transmission Scheduling for Dynamic Spectrum Access in Cognitive RadioInderdeep Kaur Aulakh, Renu VigThe constraint of limited frequency spectrum for wireless communication is very daunting. The radio spectrum licensed to permanent users is wasted at times when not used continuously. Cognitive radio technology involves a change in regulation of radio spectrum. In cognitive radio networks a secondary user network is designed for efficiently using gaps in spectrum and not causing at the same … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 8 · 5 Nov 2015 · 7,343 accessesView PDFCite
