Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleImproving Mechanical Characteristics of Inverter-induction Motor Drive SystemHussein Sarhan, Rateb IssaAn inverter-three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor drive system with improved mechanical characteristics is presented. The proposed system provides mechanical characteristics with constant maximum torque or increased maximum torque and reduced slip speed at frequencies below the nominal frequency. The control algorithm is based on the constant volts per hertz principle using two improvement techniques: keeping maximum torque constant or keeping magnetic … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2006 · 7,659 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleSynchronous Generator Disturbance Provoked by Induction Motor StartingS. P.Y. Santos, E. Delbone, E. F. Carvalho, L. N. MartinsProblem statement: This study presented an alternative procedure for the starting of large Inductions Motors (IM) in isolated generation systems. Approach: In isolated generation systems on stand-by or base load, the starting of the IM provoked sags frequently beyond the ability of the other consumers in the plant to stand. Manufacturers' solutions always recommend a supersized generator to decrease transient … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2010 · 6,939 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleUsing an Adaptative Fuzzy-Logic System to Optimize the Performances and the Reduction of Chattering Phenomenon in the Control of Induction MotorM. M. Krishan, L. Barazane, A. KhwaldehProblem statement: Neural networks and fuzzy inference systems are becoming well-recognized tools of designing an identifier/controller capable of perceiving the operating environment and imitating a human operator with high performance. Also, by combining these two features, more versatile and robust models, called “neuro-fuzzy” architectures have been developed. The mo Approach: Motivation behind the use of neuro-fuzzy approaches was based on … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,523 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleCondition Monitoring and Diagnosis of Faults in the Electric Induction MotorA. Medoued, A. Metatla, A. Boukadoum et al.Problem statement: The diagnosis of failures in the induction machine, when it is implemented effectively and whether it allows detecting early deterioration of the system, represents a means to help achieve better productivity. Approach: Primary purpose was to detect and locate a possible malfunction of equipments. In this study we developed a method using the three phase-biphase transformation (shape recognition), … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2009 · 6,773 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Sliding Mode Speed Control of an Induction MotorKais Jamoussi, Mohamed Ouali, Hassen CharradiField-oriented control was combined to robust sliding mode for motor speed control. A smooth continuous function was added in order to overcome chattering caused by Sliding Mode Controller (SMC). Simulation results showed that improvement made by our approach compared to classical PID control. …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2007 · 7,548 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA NOVEL ARTIFICIAL HYDROCARBON NETWORKS BASED SPACE VECTOR PULSE WIDTH MODULATION CONTROLLER FOR INDUCTION MOTORSHiram Ponce, Luis Ibarra, Pedro Ponce, Arturo MolinaMost of machine-operated industrial processes implement electric machinery as their work sources, implying the necessary improvement of control techniques and power electronics drivers. Many years have passed since the control conflicts related to induction motors have been overcome through torque-flux control techniques so their advantages over direct current motors have made them to be the most common electric actuator found … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 5 · 26 Feb 2014 · 7,039 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Dynamic Voltage Restorer for Voltage Sag Mitigation in a Refinery with Induction Motors LoadsTarek I. El-Shennawy, Abdel-Mon’em Moussa, Mahmoud A. El-Gammal, Amr Y. Abou-GhazalaProblem statement: ANRPC is a refinery based in Alexandria, Egypt. The plant was subjected to several shutdowns due to tripping of large induction motors, either by under voltage or by over current relays, sometimes by the mechanical protection. The main cause for such unplanned shutdowns was voltage sags. The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) has recently been introduced to protect the … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2010 · 8,922 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleOptimization of the Performance of Single-Phase Capacitor-Run Induction MotorMahdi Salman AlshamasinThe aim of the study was to suggest optimal solution for the impact of harmonics on the performance of Capacitor-Run Motor (CRM), the most commonly used single-phase motor. Therefore, investigations were carried out over the entire slip from no-load condition up to the locked-rotor condition, for harmonics of various orders in the case of using Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) speed control. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2009 · 7,479 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsDesign and Development of an Intelligent Control by Using Bee Colony Optimization TechniqueS. Tiacharoen, T. ChatchanayuenyongProblem statement: In the modern industrial manufacturing system, the efficiency of machine control is essential to reduce waste and increase the output. Most of the manufacturing machines employ an induction motor in their driving system. A number of induction motors must be controlled during machine operation. The more accurately these motors are controlled the higher is the quality of the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 9 · 4 Aug 2012 · 6,806 accessesView PDFCite
