Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleLayout Optimization in a Fitness Industry: An Application of QAP Formulation and Heuristic Approachesİbrahim Miraç Eligüzel, Eren Özceylan, Yakup AtasagunThe Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP) is the problem of determining a one-to-one and onto assignment between two sets, each consisting of n objects (e.g., n facilities and n locations) so as to minimize the sum of the distance × flow associated with pairs of assignments. In this study, QAP formulation is applied to a fitness center to assign the sports … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 4 · 3 May 2021 · 6,681 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEfficient Simulator Based on Meta-Heuristic for FMS and AGV Systems Design and ControlSlim Ben Saoud, Amel Jaoua, Narjès Bellamine-Ben SaoudFlexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) based on Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) have emerged as highly competitive manufacturing technologies of the last decade. However, their design and control are complex tasks since the decision problems related to the different system parameters such as sizing and scheduling are usually shown as NP-hard. Nowadays, computer simulation is one of the most commonly used methods … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 1 Dec 2020 · 5,949 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleExploring a Flexible Scoring Scheme for a Heuristic Search Technique: A Case Study of University TimetablesSangsuree Vasupongayya, Warakorn Sitthirit, Suthon Sae-Wong, Thaniya KaosolThe university course timetabling management system is proposed in this work. The proposed system applies depth-bounded discrepancy search together with the heuristic and the hard-soft constraints to guide the search to a good solution space. To make the proposed system easy to use by a non-technical user, this work explores a scoring scheme including the effects of the ordering heuristics, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 16, Issue 5 · 2 Jun 2020 · 7,359 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEFFECTIVE HEURISTIC ALGORITHM FOR DYNAMIC ROUTING AND BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT UNDER QUALITY OF SERVICE CONSTRAINTS IN MULTISTAGE INTERCONNECTION NETWORKSR. Deepalakshmi, S. RajaramToday, Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced abundant bandwidth consumption and necessities in multimedia communications from online games to video-conferencing applications with the constraint of QoS requirements from time to time. The expected rapid proliferation of services would require performance unprecedented in the currently available best-effort routing algorithms. In, particular, the present routing mechanisms are based on the best-effort paradigm … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 7 Jan 2014 · 7,138 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Heuristic Moving Vehicle Location Prediction Technique Via Optimal Paths Selection with Aid of Genetic Algorithm and Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural NetworkE. Baby Anitha, K. DuraiswamyThe moving object or vehicle location prediction based on their spatial and temporal information is an important task in many applications. Different methods were utilized for performing the vehicle movement detection and prediction process. In such works, there is a lack of analysis in predicting the vehicles location in current as well as in future. Moreover, such methods compute the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 12 Dec 2012 · 8,888 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMeta Heuristic Algorithms for Vehicle Routing Problem with Stochastic DemandsGeetha Shanmugam, Poonthalir Ganesan, Dr. P.T. VanathiProblem statement: The shipment of goods from manufacturer to the consumer is a focal point of distribution logistics. In reality, the demand of consumers is not known a priori. This kind of distribution is dealt by Stochastic Vehicle Routing Problem (SVRP) which is a NP-hard problem. In this proposed work, VRP with stochastic demand is considered. A probability distribution is … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 8,021 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHeuristic Lemmatization for Arabic Texts Indexation and ClassificationFaten Khalfallah Hammouda, Abdelsalam Abdelhamid AlmarimiProblem statement: This study proposed a system based on a heuristic lemmatization for Arabic text indexation and classification. This research is needed for a lot of NLP applications such as the research of information and automatic abstract. This system was not related to any linguistic rule. The proposed method was limited to five different domains: Sports, medicine, politics, economics and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2010 · 6,974 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleOptimization Based Heuristic Approaches for Solving an Integrated One-dimensional Cutting Stock-Transportation ProblemSirirat Wongprakornkul, Peerayuth CharnsethikulIn this work, the integration of the one-dimensional cutting stock problem with multiple cutting facilities and the transportation problem was formulated mathematically as a large-scale discrete optimization problem. Benders partitioning approach and the column-generation technique with the direct method and the proposed heuristic method for solving corresponding integer programming (IP) were developed into three approaches and were used to solve … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 3, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2007 · 6,741 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleNew Strategy to Optimize Lean Supply Chain Design by Meta-HeuristicThi Hong Dang Nguyen, Thien My DaoThis paper aims at presenting one novel quantitative strategy of optimizing the design of Lean supply chain using Meta-Heuristics. While classifying Lean Manufacturing tools in two categories, namely Functional and Tier Lean tools, we propose a new framework to design the Lean supply chain by implementing the former into a 5-echelon Fat supply chain.
