Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCardiovascular Diseases Identification Using Wavelet Optimization and Modify Cuckoo Search AlgorithmBanit Negi, Abhilekh Bartwal, Agya Ram Verma et al.The problem the author aims to solve is the extraction of discriminatory features in ECG (Electrocardiogram) signals for classification purposes. The scope of the work is to propose a new method for building wavelets that best reflect the discriminatory capacity of ECG signals. The approach involves optimizing the wavelets specifically for the classification function under consideration. To address the problem, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 19, Issue 8 · 3 Aug 2023 · 5,403 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomatic Diagnosis of Soybean Leaf Disease by Transfer LearningXiao Yu, Qi Gong, Cong Chen, Lina LuSoybean diseases and insect pests are important factors that affect the output and quality of soybeans, thus it is necessary to do correct inspection and diagnosis of them. For this reason, based on improved transfer learning, this study proposed a classification method for soybean leaf diseases. Firstly, leaves were segmented from the whole image after removing the complicated background images. … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 18, Issue 2 · 29 Jun 2022 · 5,807 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSpeech Enhancement Based on Adaptive Noise Cancellation and Particle Swarm OptimizationTayseer M.F. Taha, Summrina Kanwal Wajid, Amir HussainSpeech enhancement is used in almost all modern communication systems. This is due to the quality of speech being degraded by environmental interference factors, such as: Acoustic additive noise, acoustic reverberation or white Gaussian noise. This paper, explores the potential of different benchmark optimization techniques for enhancing the speech signal. This is accomplished by fine tuning filter coefficients using a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 5 · 28 May 2019 · 7,729 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUnderstanding Hybrid Additive Manufacturing of Functional DevicesSantosh Kumar Parupelli, Salil DesaiThe fabrication of electronic components in three-dimensional space is critical for building multifunctional devices. Traditional manufacturing approaches are limited to building planar device configurations. In order to address this limitation, our group has developed a novel hybrid additive manufacturing process that can deposit multi-material patterns on conformal substrates. This direct-write approach involves the combination of microextrusion, pico jet and laser … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 1 · 20 Mar 2017 · 8,154 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEconomic Evaluation of Streptococcus Pneumoniae Culture MediaVictor Morais, Norma SuárezStreptococcus pneumoniae, a major bacterial pathogen worldwide, requires a complex medium for culture, which complicates harvesting of antigens for vaccine production. Here we present an economic evaluation of factors affecting the production cost of a chemically defined medium for the scale up of fermentation of S. pneumoniae, compared with the most traditional fermentation media. A basic laboratory-scale experiment of 1 … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 12, Issue 2 · 27 May 2016 · 8,374 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDEVELOPMENT OF TEST PROTOCOLS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF MAGNETO-RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF FIELD-RESPONSIVE BITUMINOUS BINDERSEzio Santagata, Orazio Baglieri, Lucia Tsantilis, Arianna VercelliMagneto-rheological fluids are materials that exhibit a significant change in their rheological properties in the presence of a magnetic field. Because of such a field-dependent behavior, they can act as smart materials in applications in which changeable performances are desired. In road pavement engineering, the use of bitumen-based magneto-rheological fluids may open innovative scenarios related to the construction of smart … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 20 Jan 2014 · 6,654 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractADAPTIVE EXPERT SYSTEM FOR CALCULATION OF REAL EAR INSERTION GAIN FOR DIGITAL HEARING AIDSadagopan Rajkumar, S Muttan, Balaji PillaiThe various gain calculating formulae for digital hearing aids is analyzed for different subjects to find out suitable adaptive gain formula for most successful gain recommendations. The object of the work is to design and develop an adaptive expert system, which could be effectively used to perform screening tests to identify the level of hearing impairment and recommend suitable gain … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 13, Issue 3 · 4 Sep 2013 · 6,977 accessesView PDFCite
