Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleSecurity Extensible Access Control Markup Language Policy Integration Based on Role-Based Access Control Model in Healthcare Collaborative EnvironmentsTeo Poh Kuang, Hamidah Ibrahim, Nur Izura Udzir, Fatimah SidiRecently research is focused on security policy integration and conflict reconciliation among various healthcare organizations. Problem statement: However, challenging security and privacy risk issues still arisen during sharing sensitive patient data in different large distributed organizations. Though eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML) has a powerful capacity of expression, it does not support all the elements character of RBAC. Thus, … …American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 26 Jan 2011 · 9,067 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleIntelligent Voice-Based Door Access Control System Using Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) for Building SecurityWahyudi, Winda Astuti, Syazilawati MohamedSecure buildings are currently protected from unauthorized access by a variety of devices. Even though there are many kinds of devices to guarantee the system safety such as PIN pads, keys both conventional and electronic, identity cards, cryptographic and dual control procedures, the people voice can also be used. The ability to verify the identity of a speaker by analyzing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 5 · 31 May 2007 · 8,547 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAn Effective Key Management Approach to Differential Access Control in Dynamic EnvironmentsYogesh Karandikar, Xukai Zou, Yuanshun DaiApplications like e-newspaper or interactive online gaming have more than one resource and a large number of users. There is a many-to-many relationship between users and resources; each user can access multiple resources and multiple users can access each resource. The resources are independent and each resource needs to be encrypted by a different Resource Encryption Key (REK). Each REK … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2006 · 6,770 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Combined Solution for Routing and Medium Access Control Layer Attacks in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksR. Murugan, A. ShanmugamProblem statement: In Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET), both the routing layer and the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer are vulnerable to several attacks. There are very few techniques to detect and isolate the attacks of both these layers simultaneously. In this study, we developed a combined solution for routing and MAC layer attacks. Approach: Our approach, makes use of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 4 Nov 2010 · 7,135 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Channel Adaptive Energy Efficient and Fair Scheduling Media Access Control Protocol for Mobile AdHoc NetworksP. Priakanth, P. ThangarajProblem statement: A major drawback in the existing protocols in dealing with energy management issues is that the time varying nature of the wireless channels among the ad hoc nodes is ignored. Approach: This study proposed a channel adaptive energy efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol, for efficient packets scheduling and queuing in an ad hoc network, with time varying … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2009 · 7,556 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleEnhancing Wireless Medium Access Control Layer Misbehavior Detection System in IEEE 802.11 NetworkA. M. Alsahag, M. OthmanWireless Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols such as IEEE 802.11 use distributed contention resolution mechanisms for sharing the wireless channel. In this environment, selfish hosts that fail to adhere to the MAC protocol may obtain an unfair throughput share. For example, IEEE 802.11 requires hosts competing for access to the channel to wait for a "back-off" interval, randomly selected from … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 6,963 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAdaptivity in Role-Based Access Control During Stochastic Situations: A Comprehensive Study between Graph and Relational DatabasesKriti Srivastava, Dhruv Jain, Aarya Kamdar et al.Role-based control is straightforward to implement in static systems where there are specific policies for role and resource mapping. The main challenge is faced in dynamic and unpredictable systems with erratic workflows. Conventional methods prove to be inadequate in dynamic environments. Over the Years methods suggested include probabilistic, machine learning, ontology, and decision tree models to improve the adaptability. However, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 20, Issue 12 · 18 Nov 2024 · 5,372 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleSleeping Cluster based Medium Access Control Layer Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor NetworksT. Nagamalar, T. R. RangaswamyWireless sensor networks play a vital role in remote area applications, where human intervention is not possible. In a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) each and every node is strictly an energy as well as bandwidth constrained one. Problem Statement: In a standard WSN, most of the routing techniques, move data from multiple sources to a single fixed base station. Because … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 16 Jul 2012 · 6,686 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Fuzzy Logic Based Power Control for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access Wireless NetworksN. Mohan, T. RavichandranProblem statement: Resource management is one of the most important engineering issues in 3G systems where multiple traffic classes are supported each being characterized by its required Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. Call Admission Control (CAC) is one of the resource management functions, which regulates network access to ensure QoS provisioning. Efficient CAC is necessary for the QoS provisioning in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 4 Aug 2012 · 6,755 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSolving the Near-Far Problem in Dynamic Frequency Hopping-Optical Code Division Multiple Access using Power ControlW. J.M. Al-galbi, M. Mokhtar, A. F. Abas et al.Problem statement: In this study, a distributed power control algorithm is proposed for Dynamic Frequency Hopping Optical-CDMA (DFH-OCDMA) system. Approach: In general, the DFH-OCDMA can support higher number of simultaneous users compared to other OCDMA techniques. However, the performance of such system degrades significantly as the received power does lower than its minimum threshold. Results: This may obviously occur in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2009 · 7,521 accessesView PDFCite
