Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Improved TCP Connection Protocol over Wireless Mobile Networks with Mobile Nodes HandoffMaen M. Al AssafProblem Statement: This study proposes a TCP layer protocol (Div-TCP) that aims to give a solution for communication over wireless mobile networks that have the occurrence of handoff at anytime. It describes a topology of wireless mobile network and the handoff process as an ordinary process in that type of networks which may cause segments losses. Approach: Wireless mobile networks … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2008 · 6,675 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractClassification by Discriminant Analysis of Energy in View of the Detection of Accented Syllables in Standard ArabicA. Chentir, M. Guerti, D. J. HirstProblem Statement: Current algorithms for the recognition and synthesis of Arabic prosody concentrate on identifying the primary stressed syllable of accented words on the basis of fundamental frequency. Generally, the three acoustic parameters used in prosody are: Fundamental frequency, duration and energy. Approach: In this study, we exploited the acoustic parameter of energy by means of a classification by a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2008 · 6,824 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Study of Power Control Radio Resource Management Over WLANsZ. I. Dafalla, M. B.R. MurthyWireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) based on IEEE 802.11 standard have been rapidly growing. With limitations of the WLAN standard and rapid increase in wireless application demand, the air interface acts as bottleneck even in high-speed WLAN standards such as IEEE 802.11a and 802.11g with expected data transmission rates of up to 54 Mbps. To improve the overall performance of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2008 · 7,255 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIrregular Class of Multistage Interconnection Network in Parallel ProcessingSandeep Sharma, K. S. Kahlon, P. K. Bansal, Kawaljeet SinghA major problem in designing a large-scale parallel and distributed system was the construction of an Interconnection Network (IN) to provide inter-processor communication. One of the biggest issues in the development of such a system was the development of an effective architecture and algorithms that have high reliability, give good performance (even in the presence of faults), low cost, low … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2008 · 7,057 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Analysis of Clustering Protocols in Mobile Ad hoc NetworksSharmila J. Francis, Elijah B. RajsinghNetwork clustering is an important technique widely used in efficient MANETs network management, hierarchical routing protocol design, network modeling, Quality of Service, etc. Recently many researchers are focusing on clustering which is one of the fundamental problems in mobile ad hoc networks. This article presents the descriptions of recently proposed clustering algorithms and is categorized into different approaches that support … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2008 · 6,947 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImproving Quality of Clustering using Cellular Automata for Information retrievalP. K. Sree, G. V.S. Raju, I. R. Babu, S. V. RajuClustering has been widely applied to Information Retrieval (IR) on the grounds of its potential improved effectiveness over inverted file search. Clustering is a mostly unsupervised procedure and the majority of the clustering algorithms depend on certain assumptions in order to define the subgroups present in a data set .A clustering quality measure is a function that, given a data … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2008 · 7,033 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHeterogeneous GPRS-WLAN Integration Based on Ad-Hoc NetworksS. LouvrosIn heterogeneous microcellular networks like 802.11(WLAN)-GPRS, users can roam around through vertical handoffs. The major problem in heterogeneous networks is that they support different QoS requirements and the users suffer sudden changes in data rates. This study proposes certain routing algorithms to extend the service time of mobile handsets in the wireless network with higher available data rate, thus improving … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2008 · 6,538 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractTesting Image Encryption by Output Feedback (OFB)Yas A. AlsultannyWhen it is necessary to securely transmit data in open networks, the encryption must be performed. Most of the cryptographic algorithms were mainly developed for text data. Unfortunately, algorithms those are good for textual data might not suitable for image. The OFB mode of encryption implemented to test five images of different resources, by using three combinations (schemes): a combination … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2008 · 7,193 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCustomized Privacy Preservation Using Unknowns to Stymie Unearthing Of Association RulesJ. Indumathi, G.V. UmaThe explosions of new data mining techniques has augmented privacy risks because now it is probable to powerfully coalesce and cross-examine massive data stores, accessible on the web, in the rummage around of earlier unidentified hidden patterns. Consecutively to make a overtly accessible system safe and sound, we must guarantee not only that private sensitive data have been trimmed out, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2007 · 7,117 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Improved Implementation of Brain Tumor Detection Using Segmentation Based on Neuro Fuzzy TechniqueS. Murugavalli, V. RajamaniImplementation of a neuro-fuzzy segmentation process of the MRI data is presented in this study to detect various tissues like white matter, gray matter, csf and tumor. The advantage of hierarchical self organizing map and fuzzy c means algorithms are used to classify the image layer by layer. The lowest level weight vector is achieved by the abstraction level.
