Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEfficient Technique to Detect the Region of Interests in Mammogram ImagesMoussa H. Abdallah, Ayman A. AbuBaker, Rami S. Qahwaji, Mohammed H. SalehProblem Statement: Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women today after lung cancer and is the most common cancer among women. The development of efficient technique to early detect the region of microcalcifications mammogram images is a must. Approach: The method proposed in this paper is to enhance the Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) performance. This … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2008 · 6,629 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractParallel Algorithms for String Matching Problem on Single and Two Dimensional Reconfigurable Pipelined Bus SystemsS. Viswanadha Raju, A. Vinaya BabuWe considered string matching on LARPBS and 2D LARPBS. This has applications such as string databases, cellular automata and computational biology. The main use of this method is to reduce the time spent on comparisons in string matching by using LARPBS. We investigated exact string matching and approximate string matching problems. For these two sub problems, we obtained O (n) … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2007 · 6,530 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Dynamic Object Fragmentation and Replication Algorithm In Distributed Database SystemsAzzam Sleit, Wesam AlMobaideen, Samih Al-Areqi, Abdulaziz YahyaThis paper proposes an enhancement for the ADRW algorithm to achieve dynamic fragmentation and object allocation in distributed databases. The algorithm adapts to the changing patterns of object requests with the objective to dynamically adjust the allocation schemes of objects in order to minimize the total servicing cost of all requests. Objects may be replicated or fragmented depending on patterns … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2007 · 7,384 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Monitoring of Energy Flow in the Power Transmission and Distribution System Using Grid ComputingC. Senthamarai, A. Krishnan, R. HemalathaGrid Computing is a promising infrastructure and technology that involves the integrated and collaborative use of Computers, networks, databases and scientific instruments owned and managed by multiple organizations. In this context our research primarily aims at developing an application framework for monitoring the Performance of Power Transmission and Distribution System using Grid Computing. Power Transmission and Distribution System of Electrical … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 5 · 31 May 2007 · 6,585 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Integrated Approach to Digital Objects Storage and RetrievalKhalil Shihab, Haider Ramadhan, Nida Al-ChalabiImage retrieval systems are becoming increasingly important in areas of research and commercial use. The storage of digital objects in the traditional databases is considered inadequate because of the extensive precise data required for successful retrieval. In addition, the retrieval process has been implemented using content-based image retrieval (CBIR) that relies on retrieving stored images from a collection by comparing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2006 · 6,491 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Filtering Algorithm for Duplicate Document Based on Concept AnalysisAhmad M. HasnahData bases and web pages contain currently a huge number of duplicate document. It is then fundamental to have a filter which can be embedded, for instance, within an information retrieval system like a search engine in order to prohibit the redundant documents references to appear on the screen as a reply to the user's query. This filter can save … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 6,741 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractResearch Note: Standard Scores Based on the Median and Inter-quartile RangeJames CarifioRecently when asked to help with statistical analyses of the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPar) Data, I encountered a common statistical and analytical problem with this national database, which is also common to many national and health databases. This problem was the problem of extremely skewed distributions (g1 and/or g2 typically exceeding 20), which creates numerous difficulties in comparing … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2006 · 6,840 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSoftware Cost Estimation Model Based on Integration of Multi-agent and Case-Based ReasoningHasan Al-SakranAccurate software cost estimation is a vital task that affects the firm's software investment decisions before committing required resources to that project or bidding for a contract. This study proposes an improved Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) approach integrated with multi-agent technology to retrieve similar projects from multi-organizational distributed datasets. The study explores the possibility of building a software cost estimation model … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2006 · 6,740 accessesView PDFCite
