Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Analysis of Clustering Protocols in Mobile Ad hoc NetworksSharmila J. Francis, Elijah B. RajsinghNetwork clustering is an important technique widely used in efficient MANETs network management, hierarchical routing protocol design, network modeling, Quality of Service, etc. Recently many researchers are focusing on clustering which is one of the fundamental problems in mobile ad hoc networks. This article presents the descriptions of recently proposed clustering algorithms and is categorized into different approaches that support … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2008 · 6,947 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnt Colony Based Node Disjoint Hybrid Multi-path Routing for Mobile Ad Hoc NetworkB. Kalaavathi, K. DuraiswamyMobile Ad hoc Networks are characterized by multi-hop wireless links, without any infrastructure and frequent node mobility. A class of ant colony based routing protocols has recently gained attention because of their adaptability to the network changes. AntHocNet is ant colony based hybrid algorithm, which combines reactive path setup with proactive path probing, maintenance and improvement. Multi-path routing represents a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2008 · 7,043 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Evaluation of Modified AODV for Load BalancingAmita Rani, Mayank DaveAODV is a prominent routing protocol for MANET that uses hop count as a path selection metric. However, AODV has no means to convey traffic load on current route. This study focuses on introducing a new metric, Aggregate Interface Queue Length (AIQL), in AODV in order to deal with load balancing issues. Performance evaluation through simulation shows that the modified … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2007 · 7,102 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Swarm-based Distance Vector Routing to Support Multiple Quality of Service (QoS) Metrics in Mobile Adhoc NetworksR. Asokan, A. M. Natarajan, A. NivethaQuality of Service support for Mobile Ad-hoc Networks is a challenging task due to dynamic topology and limited resource. The main purpose of QoS routing is to find a feasible path that has sufficient resources to satisfy the constraints. A fundamental problem in QoS routing is to find a path between a source and destination that satisfies two or more … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2007 · 6,665 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractProximity Aware Routing in Ad Hoc NetworksValerie Alandzi, Alejandro QuinteroMost of the existing routing protocols for ad hoc networks are designed to scale in networks of a few hundred nodes. They rely on state concerning all links of the network or links on the route between a source and a destination. This may result in poor scaling properties in larger mobile networks or when node mobility is high. Using … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2007 · 6,733 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUtilization of AODV in Wireless Ad Hoc NetworksZeyad M. Alfawaer, GuiWei Hua, Nidal A. HamdehAODV is a mature and widely accepted routing protocol for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET), it has low processing and memory overhead and low network utilization, and works well even in high mobility situation. We modified AODV to use these dominating sets, resulting in the AODV-DS protocol. Our contribution in addressing the fragility of a minimum connected dominating set in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2007 · 7,160 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOn using Mobile IP ProtocolsFayza A. NadaThe recent advances in wireless communication technology and the unprecedented growth of the Internet have paved the way for wireless networking and IP mobility. Mobile Internet protocol has been designed within the IETF to support the mobility of users who wish to connect to the Internet and maintain communications as they move from place to place. This study describes and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2006 · 6,727 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLocation Based Throughput Maximization Routing in Energy Constrained Mobile Ad-hoc NetworkV. Sumathy, P. Narayanasamy, R. PrabhuIn wireless Ad-hoc network, power consumption becomes an important issue due to limited battery power. One of the reasons for energy expenditure in this network is irregularly distributed node pattern, which impose large interference range in certain area. To maximize the lifetime of ad-hoc mobile network, the power consumption rate of each node must be evenly distributed and the over … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2006 · 6,823 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Hybrid Approach for Node Co-Operation Based Clustering in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksC. Sathiyakumar, K. DuraiswamyA Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is termed as a set of wireless nodes which could be built with infrastructure less environment where network services are afforded by the nodes themselves. In such a situation, if a node refuses to co-operate with other nodes, then it will lead to a considerable diminution in throughput and the network operation decreases to low … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 2 · 26 Mar 2013 · 6,964 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractReducing Broadcast Overhead Using Clustering Based Broadcast Mechanism in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworkN. Karthikeyan, V. Palanisamy, K. DuraiswamyProblem statement: Network wide broadcasting is an important function in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), which attempts to deliver packets from a source node to all other nodes in the network. Broadcasting is often very useful for route discovery, naming, addressing and helping multicast operations in all kinds of networks. For designing broadcast protocols for ad hoc networks, one of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,031 accessesView PDFCite
