Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Approach Using Data Envelopment Analysis for Ranking Classification AlgorithmsA. Bazleh, P. Gholami, F. SoleymaniProblem statement: A variety of methods and algorithms for classification problems have been developed recently. But the main question is that how to select an appropriate and effective classification algorithm. This has always been an important and difficult issue. Approach: Since the classification algorithm selection task needs to examine more than one criterion such as accuracy and computational time, it … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 15 Sep 2011 · 7,443 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUsing Hyper Clustering Algorithms in Mobile Network PlanningLamiaa Fattouh Ibrahim, Hesham A. SalmanProblem statement: As a large amount of data stored in spatial databases, people may like to find groups of data which share similar features. Thus cluster analysis becomes an important area of research in data mining. Applications of clustering analysis have been utilized in many fields, such as when we search to construct a cluster served by base station in … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 10 · 30 Aug 2011 · 7,504 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractContent Based Image Retrieval using Novel Gaussian Fuzzy Feed Forward-Neural NetworkC. Ramesh Babu Durai, V. DuraisamyProblem statement: With extensive digitization of images, diagrams and paintings, traditional keyword based search has been found to be inefficient for retrieval of the required data. Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system responds to image queries as input and relies on image content, using techniques from computer vision and image processing to interpret and understand it, while using techniques from information … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 28 Jun 2011 · 7,326 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractClimate Change and its Implications to National SecurityMamunur Rashid, Joy Jacqueline Pereir, Rawshan Ara Begum et al.Problem statement: Climate change is increasingly one of the most serious national security threats which will have significant impacts on natural and coastal resources, ecosystem, human health and settlements, thereby affecting human wellbeing. At the same time, it is likely to influence of large scale human migration, economic and social depression over scarce natural resources and political systems necessary involve … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 26 May 2011 · 8,071 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImproving the Performance of Machine Learning Based Multi Attribute Face Recognition Algorithm Using Wavelet Based Image Decomposition TechniqueS. Sakthivel, M. RajaramProblem statement: Recognizing a face based attributes is an easy task for a human to perform; it is closely automated and requires little mental effort. A computer, on the other hand, has no innate ability to recognize a face or a facial feature and must be programmed with an algorithm to do so. Generally, to recognize a face, different kinds … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 7 Mar 2011 · 6,907 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnalysis of Evapotranspiration Variability and Trends in the Arabian PeninsulaMohammad ElNesr, Abdulrahman Alazba, Majed Abu-ZreigProblem statement: Climate variability is receiving much attention recently because it has significant effects on water resources and therefore on the livelihood of society especially in water scarce countries such the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Approach: The aim of this study was to explore changes in the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) using data from 27 weather stations through years 1980-2008 … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 6 · 31 Dec 2010 · 8,005 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHybrid Algorithm for Privacy Preserving Association Rule MiningIla Chandrakar, Yelipe Usha Rani, Mortha Manasa, Kondabala RenukaProblem statement: The objective of the hybrid algorithm for privacy preserving data mining is to hide certain sensitive information so that they cannot be discovered through association rule mining techniques. Approach: The sensitive items whether in Left Hand Side (LHS) or Right Hand Side (RHS) of the rule cannot be inferred through association rule mining algorithms by combining the concept … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 22 Nov 2010 · 7,334 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractRetrieval of Similar Shapes Under Affine Transform Using Affine Length ParameterizationA. Lakehal, O. El Beqqali, O. Ait ZemzamiProblem statement: In this study, a new descriptor for shape retrieval under affine transformations had been proposed; the affine length parameterization was used in this approach. Approach: The zero crossing of affine curvature was used to extract a descriptor of shapes in database. For each two successive zero crossing points we extract two parameters: the first parameter was a maximal … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 10 · 30 Aug 2010 · 7,255 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractClassical Flexible Lip Model Based Relative Weight Finder for Better Lip Reading Utilizing Multi Aspect Lip GeometryB. Sujatha, T. SanthanamProblem statement: Deaf and dumb needs assistance from a technical box that takes movements of lips to identify the words. This technical article provided appropriate model implementation of flexible lip model for better visual lip reading system. Approach: From the frame sequence of words, Active Shape Model (ASM) based lip model provided local tracking and extraction of geometric lip-feature.
