Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Integrated Approach to Digital Objects Storage and RetrievalKhalil Shihab, Haider Ramadhan, Nida Al-ChalabiImage retrieval systems are becoming increasingly important in areas of research and commercial use. The storage of digital objects in the traditional databases is considered inadequate because of the extensive precise data required for successful retrieval. In addition, the retrieval process has been implemented using content-based image retrieval (CBIR) that relies on retrieving stored images from a collection by comparing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2006 · 6,491 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEcological Capability of Land Use Planning for Rural DevelopmentJ. Nouri, R. Sharifipour, A. A. BabaeiExecution of development and creation of appropriate points for rural development without considering ecological capability will result in the appearance of several environmental, economic and social problems. This research is done in an analysis approach frame of a system with the aim of choosing the most suitable location for rural development in Abadeh with an area of 22,000 km2. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Filtering Algorithm for Duplicate Document Based on Concept AnalysisAhmad M. HasnahData bases and web pages contain currently a huge number of duplicate document. It is then fundamental to have a filter which can be embedded, for instance, within an information retrieval system like a search engine in order to prohibit the redundant documents references to appear on the screen as a reply to the user's query. This filter can save … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 6,741 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Semantic Cache Management Method in Mobile DatabasesShengfei Shi, Jianzhong Li, Chaokun WangIn mobile database systems, caching is a crucial way to improve the performance because a new query can be partially answered locally when the client is continuously moving around. Semantic caching has been paid much attention in traditional database systems. However, the methods of semantic cache management proposed in those systems are not suitable for mobile computing environment. Moreover, although … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,878 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEvaluation of an Intelligent Electronic Prescription Ontology Using Open Source Tools: A Botswana Case StudyTshiamo Sigwele, Eunice Okon, Tshepiso Mokgetse, Onkemetse TshenyegoHealthcare interoperability in Botswana is hindered by fragmented information exchange across public and private providers, resulting in prescription conflicts, duplicated treatment, and delayed care. In prior work, we developed the Intelligent Electronic Prescription Ontology (IEPO), an open-source OWL 2 ontology for semantically standardized prescription data exchange. Although IEPO was previously validated using competency question-driven metrics (recall, precision, and F1-score), those … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 10 · 29 Sep 2026 · 500 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEnriching an Authority File of Scientific Conferences with Information Extracted from the WebHeider Alvarenga de Jesus, Denilson Alves PereiraAuthority files maintain variant forms to refer to the same entity and they are very useful in digital libraries. However, collect data and keep an updated authority file is not a trivial task. This paper proposes an approach for the enrichment of a publication venue authority file by extracting information on conferences from their web pages. Collecting additional data is … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 4 · 6 May 2017 · 7,650 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractRetrieval Optimization Technique for Tuple Timestamp Historical Relation Temporal Data ModelSami M. Halawani, Ibrahim AlBidewi, Ab Rahman Ahmad, Nashwan A. Al-RomemaProblem statement: In the field of database technology, Recoding time related data are referred to as temporal databases. Conventional relational databases are queried using the underlying constructs of SQL which are translated into Relational Algebra (RA). Relational Algebra (RA) is the writing of logical expressions that uses a set of relational operators to perform operations on specific relation(s) and returns … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 9 Dec 2011 · 7,376 accessesView PDFCite
