Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLoad Balancing of Distributed Systems Based on Multiple Ant Colonies OptimizationAl-Dahoud Ali, Mohamed A. Belal, Moh’d Belal Al-ZoubiProblem statement: Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) provides a meta-heuristic optimization tool and collective intelligence model to several applications such as routing and load balancing. A lot of work found in the literature on using ACO in load balancing. However, as far as our knowledge, there was no work relating load balancing in distributed systems with ACO. Approach: In this study, … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 7,209 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOptimal Power Multicast Problem in Wireless Mesh Networks by Using a Hybrid Particle Swarm OptimizationAllam Maalla, Chen Wei, Haitham J. TahaProblem statement: Most mobile nodes in a wireless ad hoc network are powered by energy limited batteries; the limited battery lifetime imposes a constraint on the network performance. Therefore, power consumption of network operations is critical and subject to optimization. Approach: A novel hybrid PSO was proposed for solving the minimum power multicast problem in wireless ad-hoc networks. The MPM … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2009 · 6,809 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordTRUSTWORTHY ENABLED RELIABLE COMMUNICATION ARCHITECTURE IN MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKSaravanan Dhavamani, Chandarasekaran Ramasamy, M. G. Sharavana KumarAd hoc networks are widely used in military and other scientific area. There are various kind of routing protocols are available to establish the route, with the proper analyzation one can choose the routing protocol to form their own network with respect to number of nodes and security considerations. The mobility of nodes makes the environment infrastructure less. It also … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 7 · 12 Feb 2014 · 6,995 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA New Policy for Path Selection in Dynamic Source Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad-Hoc NetworksRagb O.M. Saleh, Md Yazid Mohd Saman, M. Nordin A. RahmanIn standard DSR protocol, nodes automatically discover and maintain the routes in the network by storing source routes, discovered dynamically on-demand. They maintain route caches that contain the source routes which the node is aware of. Entries are continually updated when new routes are learned and reorder the cached routes according to the traditional shortest path policy. The problem with … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 5 · 17 May 2013 · 6,216 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordDynamic Route Shortening and Route Repairing Mechanism for Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksS. Revathi, T. R. RangaswamyProblem statement: Ad hoc Networks are wireless networks without any fixed infrastructure. The network topology changes frequently and unpredictably due to the random movement of the nodes. The Ad Hoc on Demand Distant Vector Routing (AODV) protocol works in a dynamic fashion, by establishing a route on demand and continues that route until it breaks. Due to the changing network … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 11 Jul 2012 · 7,068 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordMobile Anonymous Trust Based Routing Using Ant Colony OptimizationR. Kalpana, N. RengarajanProblem statement: Ad hoc networks are susceptible to malicious attacks through denial of services, traffic analysis and spoofing. The security of the ad hoc routing protocol depends upon encryption, authentication, anonymity and trust factors. End-to-end security of data is provided by encryption and authentication, topology information of the nodes can be obtained by studying traffic and routing data. This security … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 30 Jun 2012 · 6,946 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Fault Tolerant Congestion Aware Routing Protocol for Mobile Adhoc NetworksG. Rajkumar, K. DuraiswamyProblem statement: The performance of ad hoc routing protocols will significantly degrade when there are faulty nodes in the network. Packet losses and bandwidth degradation are caused due to congestion and thus, time and energy is wasted during its recovery. The fault tolerant congestion aware routing protocol addresses these problems by exploring the network redundancy through multipath routing. Approach: In … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 23 Feb 2012 · 6,446 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordAn Improved Location aided Cluster Based Routing Protocol with Intrusion Detection System in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksS. Mangai, A. TamilarasiProblem statement: Routing and security are the main challenges for ad hoc networks due to dynamic topology as well as resource constraints. A designed protocol must provide scalable routing with better security. Lack of any central coordination and shared wireless medium makes them more vulnerable to attacks than wired networks. And also resource constraints such as limited energy and size … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 7,103 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Channel Adaptive Energy Efficient and Fair Scheduling Media Access Control Protocol for Mobile AdHoc NetworksP. Priakanth, P. ThangarajProblem statement: A major drawback in the existing protocols in dealing with energy management issues is that the time varying nature of the wireless channels among the ad hoc nodes is ignored. Approach: This study proposed a channel adaptive energy efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol, for efficient packets scheduling and queuing in an ad hoc network, with time varying … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2009 · 7,556 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordAdding Quality of Service Extensions to the Enhanced Associativity Based Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET)Ayman Mansour Murad, Bassam Al-MahadeenThis paper described how to discover routes that can satisfy QoS service requirements by using extensions to the Enhanced Associativity Bases Routing Protocol (EABR). These extensions were added to the messages used during route discovery. These extensions specify the service requirements, which must be met by nodes re-broadcasting a route request or returning a route reply for a destination.
