Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEVALUATING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE LOCATION-AIDED ROUTING-1P ROUTE DISCOVERY ALGORITHMAli Maqousi, Hussein Al-BahadiliDynamic Routing Protocols (DRPs) are widely-used for routing information among mobile nodes in Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) and establish and maintain connectivity within the network. A DRP comprises two main phases: route discovery and route maintenance. The route discovery phase involves transmission of large number of redundant control packets consuming significant portion of the nodes power and increase communication … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 3 · 28 Nov 2013 · 6,484 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractTHE RATIONAL BEHIND THE SERVAL NETWORK LAYER FOR RESILIENT COMMUNICATIONSPaul Gardner-Stephen, Andrew Bettison, Romana Challans, Jeremy LakemanThe Internet Protocol is the dominant network protocol used in public networks today and has proven to be highly effective for wired networks and wireless networks alike, provided network address allocation can be coordinated. Mesh networks consisting of highly mobile devices present new challenges, especially when the assumption of coordination does not apply. One situation where coordination is not readily … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 7,708 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA NOVEL APPROACH FOR INFORMATION SECURITY IN AD HOC NETWORKS THROUGH SECURE KEY MANAGEMENTS. Suma Christal Mary, M. PallikondaRajasekaran, Y. ChrisbinJeevaAd hoc networks provide flexible and adaptive networks with no fixed infrastructure and dynamic topology. Owe to the vulnerability nature of ad hoc network, there are lots of security threats that diminish the development of ad hoc networks. Therefore, to provide security for information of users and to preserve their privacy, it becomes mandatory to use cryptographic techniques to set … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 11 · 2 Oct 2013 · 6,693 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLIGHTWEIGHT VIGILANT PROCEDURE TO IMPLEMENT SECURITY MEASURES IN HIGHLY ROVING MILITARY OPERATIONSJ. Udhayan, Rajesh BabuThe performance of Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) becomes questionable in highly roving and mission critical application like military operation. Security measures like encryption, authentication, digital signature has been proposed for MANET. However all those mechanisms need some kind of static infrastructure and it is extremely difficult to implement such an infrastructure throughout the military mission. Therefore in this work, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 18 Sep 2013 · 6,648 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Cross-Layered Path Stability Based Routing Protocol for WiMAX NetworksM. Deva Priya, M. L. ValarmathiIn IEEE 802.16, a Subscriber Station (SS) is battery powered with limited capacity. A SS can be made to operate for longer durations by deploying power saving features or by using relay stations. Multi-hop communication conserves power, but finding an optimal path to the destination is monotonous. Path stability indicates how stable a path is and how long it can … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 11 · 9 Sep 2013 · 6,677 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Evaluation of Probabilistic Relay in Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector and Ad Hoc On-demand Multipath Distance Vector Under Highly Dynamic EnvironmentsRadityo Anggoro, Teruaki Kitasuka, Ryoji Nakamura, Masayoshi AritsugiVehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are a specific class of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). Since vehicles tend to move in a high speed, the network topology is rapidly changed. Thus vehicle’s connectivity problem is one of the interesting issues in VANETs. Ad hoc On-demand Multipath Distance Vector (AOMDV) is an extended version of ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV). … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 22 Jun 2013 · 7,054 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Dynamic Approach for Rate Adaptation in Mobile Adhoc NetworksPalaniammal Senniappan, Suganya SubramaniamA Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes with no fixed infrastructure. The absence of central authorization facility in dynamic and distributed environment affects the optimal utilization of resources like, throughput, power and bandwidth. Rate adaptation is the key technique to optimize the resource throughput. Some recently proposed rate adaptations use Request to Send/Clear to Send … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 6 · 8 Jun 2013 · 6,678 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFlooding Attack Aware Secure AODVS. Madhavi, K. DuraiswamyProviding security in a Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a challenging task due to its inherent nature. Flooding is a type of Denial of Service (DoS) attack in MANET. Intentional flooding may lead to disturbances in the networking operation. This kind of attack consumes battery power, storage space and bandwidth. Flooding the excessive number of packets may degrade the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 27 Feb 2013 · 7,536 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSelfish Scheduler for Packet Scheduling Based on Packet Weighted Energy Drain Rate in ManetsS. Lakshmi, S. RadhaThe aim of our selfish scheduler based on packet weighted energy drain rate in Mobile ad-hoc networks mainly depends on the available least highest-limit of the residual value of a mobile node. The projected work comprises of mechanisms for detecting the selfish node as well as an attitude called rehabilitate-before-malicious behavior for justifying against the malicious behavior of nodes having … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 6 Feb 2013 · 6,845 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCluster Based Data Consistency for Cooperative Caching over Partitionable Mobile Adhoc NetworkP. Kuppusamy, B. KalaavathiProblem statement: Data availability and consistency are foremost issues in Mobile Ad hoc Networks due to the absence of permanent infrastructure. Cooperative caching addresses the data availability issue through coordinating the mobile nodes and sharing the cache copies among them. In the meantime, the mobile node must ensure the staleness of cache copies. The consistency maintenance resolves the staleness of … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 10 Jul 2012 · 6,858 accessesView PDFCite
