Anto Bennet, I. Jacob RaglendProblem statement: The visual effects of blocking artifacts can be reduce by using deblocking filter. Also with out smoothing the natural edges, the perceived quality of video sequence can be enchanced. This study propose a method to remove blocking artifacts in low bit-rate block based video coding. Approach: The proposed algorithm has two separate filtering modes, which are selected by pixel … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 9 · 8 Aug 2012 · 7,264 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordMagneto Convection in Tilted Square Cavity with Differentially Thermally Active Vertical WallsGokila Subbarayalu, Selladurai VelappanProblem statement: The purpose of this study is to study numerically the magnetoconvection in a tilted square cavity with differentially thermally active vertical walls. The two vertical side walls of tilted enclosure are differentially thermally active, each consisting of alternating equal sized hot and cold surface elements facing each other in an opposed manner while the horizontal top and bottom … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 25 May 2011 · 7,355 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordThe Effect of Bone Properties due to Skeletal Diseases on Stability of Cementless Hip StemsMohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir, Nazri KamsahProblem statement: There are two types of implant fixation in hip joint replacement-cemented and cementless. The cemented types are, in general, more popular due to concerns of possible inability of cementless implants achieving maximum primary stability for bone integration. The concern is more significant in cases where there are major losses of cancellous bone stock and thinning of the trabeculae … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 7,169 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA 2-Dimensional Model for the Transmission Dynamics of Schistosomiasis in the Human-Snail HostsG. Besigye-BafakiThe modes of transmission of schistosomiasis are considered. The transmission model is developed with an aim of establishing possible endemic equilibria within the community. Analysis of the model reveals that if the recovery rate β of human infectives and the death rate of snails δ are increased and if at the same time the contact rate κ of the human … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 6,506 accessesView PDF Cite
