Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Odor Key Technique for Security Applications Using Electronic Nose SystemMahmoud Z. IskandaraniProblem statement: A novel approach to security applications that makes use of odors as password generators is developed and tested. The developed system detects and converts odor signals that are randomly selected to binary signals and then intelligently compares them with previously stored values. Approach: The interface device in question then either opens its interface if comparison is successful or … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 7,186 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Database Design for Student Information SystemNoraziah Ahmad, Nawsher Khan, Ahmed N. Abd Alla, Abul Hashem BegProblem statement: A new system designed, where necessary and alternative solutions given to solve the different problems and the most feasible solution were selected. Approach: This study presents the database design for student information system. Computerization of a system means to change it from a manual to a computer-based, system to automate the work and to provide efficiency, accuracy, timelessness, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 8,718 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAttack of Against Simplified Data Encryption Standard Cipher System Using Neural NetworksKhaled M. Alallayah, Waiel F. Abd El-Wahed, Mohamed Amin, Alaa H. AlhamamiProblem statement: The problem in cryptanalysis can be described as an unknown and the neural networks are ideal tools for black-box system identification. In this study, a mathematical black-box model is developed and system identification techniques are combined with adaptive system techniques, to construct the Neuro-Identifier. Approach: The Neuro-Identifier was discussed as a black-box model to attack the target cipher … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,941 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractRe-quantization Codebook Using FingerprintZ. F. Muhsen, M. A. Dababna, A. A. NsourRe-quantization is a key technology for reducing the bit rate of compressed data. The reduction of the bit rate and in certain cases may result in signal quality degradation. Techniques need to be deployed to enhance the signal quality based on optimization techniques. The proposed scheme constructed an optimal re-quantization codebook in an iterative manner for a given original quantization … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 6,905 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractTowards a Scalable File System on Computer Clusters Using DeclusteringVu Anh Nguyen, Samuel Pierre, Dougoukolo KonaréThis study addresses the scalability issues involving file systems as critical components of computer clusters, especially for commercial applications. Given that wide striping is an effective means of achieving scalability as it warrants good load balancing and allows node cooperation, we choose to implement a new data distribution scheme in order to achieve the scalability of computer clusters. We suggest … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,516 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPreliminary Analysis of Malware Detection in Opcode Sequences within IoT EnvironmentFiras Shihab Ahmed, Norwati Mustapha, Aida Mustapha et al.With the technological development and means of communication, the Internet of Things (IoT) has become an essential role in providing many services in daily life through millions of heterogeneous but interconnected devices and nodes. This development is opening to many security and privacy challenges that can cause complete network breakdown, bypassed access control or the loss of critical data. This … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 16, Issue 9 · 5 Oct 2020 · 7,356 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Prescriptive Specialized Learning Management System for Academic Feedback towards Improved LearningAnnette van der Merwe, Tiny du Toit, Hennie KrugerThe dynamic nature of technological advances is causing changes in many fields and especially in tertiary education. Student numbers are increasing annually and institutions need to maintain education quality whilst ensuring student retention. A specialized learning management system (SLMS) was developed in this study that provides students with comprehensive feedback which will enable them to better manage their academic performance. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 10 · 24 Oct 2018 · 7,480 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSmart-Factory: Optimization and Process Control of Composite Centrifuged PipesRaffaella Aversa, Relly Victoria V. Petrescu, Florian Ion T. Petrescu, Antonio ApicellaProcess optimization strategies and intelligent control algorithms for an industrial centrifugal pipe production are presented. The chemo-rheological and thermo-kinetic features of the polymerization of unsaturated polyester based composites are analyzed by means of a mathematical model that uses the heat transfer and generation properties of polymerizable systems. The evolution of the system temperature, viscosity and degree of cure profiles in … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 13, Issue 11 · 29 Nov 2016 · 8,906 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDynamic Simulation and Optimum Operation Strategy of a Trigeneration System Serving a HospitalFrancesco Calise, Massimo Dentice d'Accadia, Luigi Libertini et al.This paper presents a numerical analysis of a trigeneration system in a hospital, aiming at determining the cost-optimal operating strategy as a function of the energy demands to be matched. The system includes: A natural gas fired reciprocating engine, heat exchangers for waste-heat recovery, a single-stage LiBr-H2O Absorption Chiller (ACH), a cooling tower, pumps, a backup boiler, a backup vapour-compression … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 4 · 29 Aug 2016 · 8,177 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAsymptotic Properties of Local Sampling on ManifoldYury Aleksandrovich YanovichIn many applications, the real high-dimensional data occupy only a very small part in the high dimensional ‘observation space’ whose intrinsic dimension is small. The most popular model of such data is Manifold model which assumes that the data lie on or near an unknown manifold Data Manifold, (DM) of lower dimensionality embedded in an ambient high-dimensional input space (Manifold … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 12, Issue 3 · 26 Aug 2016 · 7,698 accessesView PDFCite
