Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMOBILE COMMUNICATIONS FOR USING IN TELEMEDICINEMarjan Ghazi Saeedi, Mashaallah Torabi, Sakineh Hamidi, Hassan RanjiTelemedicine the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. It is also used to save lives in critical care and emergency situations. Although there were distant precursors to telemedicine, … …Current Research in Medicine, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 12 Feb 2014 · 9,988 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEFFECTIVENESS OF A PARTICIPATORY ACTION ORIENTED TRAINING INTERVENTION APPROACH AMONG HARVESTERS IN OIL PALM PLANTATIONNg Yee Guan, Shamsul Bahri Mohd Tamrin, Ismi Arif Ismail et al.Consistent with the global demand for palm oil, the intensified upstream harvesting activities of oil palms’ fresh fruit bunches, despite the harvesters evidences of various ergonomics risk factors leading to musculoskeletal disorders should be a cause for concern. Thus, this study describes the effectiveness of a modified and locally adapted Participatory Action-Oriented Training intervention program in improving the working environment … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 4 · 8 Feb 2014 · 8,983 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMOTION DETECTION USING THE SPACE-TIME INTEREST POINTSInsaf Bellamine, Hamid TairiSpace-Time Interest Points (STIP) are among all the interesting features which can be extracted from videos; they are simple, robust and they allow a good characterization of a set of regions of interest corresponding to moving objects in a three-dimensional observed scene. In this study, we show how the resulting features often reflect interesting events that can be used for … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 5 · 17 Jan 2014 · 6,647 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEFFECTIVE HEURISTIC ALGORITHM FOR DYNAMIC ROUTING AND BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT UNDER QUALITY OF SERVICE CONSTRAINTS IN MULTISTAGE INTERCONNECTION NETWORKSR. Deepalakshmi, S. RajaramToday, Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced abundant bandwidth consumption and necessities in multimedia communications from online games to video-conferencing applications with the constraint of QoS requirements from time to time. The expected rapid proliferation of services would require performance unprecedented in the currently available best-effort routing algorithms. In, particular, the present routing mechanisms are based on the best-effort paradigm … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 7 Jan 2014 · 7,143 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Approach to Damage Detection in Composite Body Structures Using Time Compensated Hyperspectral Image Analysis TechniqueMahmoud Zaki IskandaraniA novel approach to damage detection in composite car body structures using hyperspectral image index analysis algorithm is presented and discussed. The adapted technique allows the monitoring and analysis of a components structure based on correlation between time spaced thermal images. The technique produces several organized tables resulting from image fusion and frame deviation pixel redistribution calculations, which results in … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 1 Feb 2013 · 7,271 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractShakespeare and Literacy: A Case Study in a Primary ClassroomGeorge BelliveauProblem statement: Childhood is an integral time for literacy development and the aim of this article is to closely examine what pedagogical strategies were most effective to promote literacy learning with a group of six to nine year old children. This case study investigates how the use of specific literacy and drama-based strategies prepared and stimulated young children’s understanding and … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 18 Feb 2012 · 9,338 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSmart Wireless System in Fiber to the HomeMohammad Syuhaimi Ab-Rahman, Mastang, Kamarulzaman Mat, Kasmiran JumariProblem statement: Fiber To The Home (FTTH) is optical network that play important role to carry multimedia service to customers. The failure service caused by fiber optic cut or device malfunction always happens and it cannot be avoided. Approach: To solve the failure efficiently and effectively, it is needed a real time monitoring system that can work automatically to detect … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 3 · 24 Jan 2012 · 7,115 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Analysis and Overview of Modern Digital WatermarkingY. Arockia Raj, P. AlliProblem statement: The major growth of information technology is based on the growth of computer networks. The computer network diminished the entire global in a nutshell, via the internet and the intranet capabilities. Approach: In the recent year, communicating information within authenticated groups in the text, image and video formats are highly unavoidable one. And in the same manner, there … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 5 Nov 2011 · 7,724 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSpartan-3AN Field Programmable Gate Arrays Truncated Multipliers Delay StudyMohammed H. Al MijalliProblem statement: The image processing applications, such as MPEG video compression used in CT scan frames requires real time conditions and the algorithms should be verified and optimized before implementation which cannot be done with Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) because they are not reconfigurable and cost is very high. Approach: The FPGA is a viable technology that could be … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 6 · 13 Jun 2011 · 6,431 accessesView PDFCite
